  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Out of lineup again Sunday

Garcia is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Garcia is out of the lineup for a second consecutive contest. The 23-year-old infielder opens Sunday's game against Detroit on the bench while Michael Chavis gets the start at second base and hits seventh.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Starting Sunday

India (knee) is starting at designated hitter and batting leadoff Sunday against the Yankees.

India exited Saturday's contest after he fouled a ball of his knee, but he avoided a major injury and is ready to go Sunday. The 26-year-old has recorded at least one hit in four out of the last five games, batting .250 with a double, an RBI and four runs scored over that stretch.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Prominent in win

Marte went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Saturday's 4-3 win over Pittsburgh.

Marte homered in the first inning to give the Diamondbacks an early and later had the first of back-to-back infield singles that resulted in a run. Prior to the second of the those infield hits, Marte and Josh Rojas executed a double steal, putting a runner in scoring position for Corbin Carroll to knock in. Marte has heated up in May, posting a .323 average (21-for-65) with 10 walks over 17 games.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Slugs clutch homer

Gorman went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk Saturday in a 6-5 win against the Dodgers.

The game was tied 3-3 in the eighth inning when Gorman came up to the plate with two on and one out. The 23-year-old unknotted the score with a three-run blast to right field that ended up providing just enough of a margin to give the Cardinals the win. Gorman extended his hitting streak to 11 contests with Saturday's performance, and he's batting .432 (16-for-37) with six homers and 16 RBI over the red-hot stretch.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: X-rays negative on knee

X-rays returned negative on India's knee after he left Saturday's extra-inning loss to the Yankees, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

India left the game after fouling a ball off his knee. The infielder was able to continue as a pinch runner, but he was unable to play defense, with Kevin Newman taking over at second base. India should be considered day-to-day, and there's a decent chance he'll get Sunday off as a precaution.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Day off Saturday

Garcia will sit Saturday against the Tigers, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Garcia hits the bench after starting 21 straight games at second base. He's making plenty of contact this season, striking out just 12.0 percent of the time, but that's resulted in only a modest .255/.301/.359 slash line. Ildemaro Vargas will spell him at the keystone Saturday.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Powers team in return

Hoerner (hamstring) went 3-for-6 with two doubles and four RBI in Friday's 10-1 win over the Phillies.

Hoerner provided the four RBI from the leadoff spot, which shows how productive Chicago's lineup was from top to bottom. The infielder had just returned from the injured list before the game, so he was able to pick up right where he left off. Hoerner is now batting a robust .310 this season and should continue to be a strong fantasy performer.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Returns from injured list

Hoerner (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

The 26-year-old infielder was placed on the injured list last week with a left hamstring strain but was able to return after a minimum stay. Hoerner is batting .303 on the year.

  • Jake Alu LF | WAS

Nationals' Jake Alu: Heading back to Rochester

Alu was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Friday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Alu will head back to Triple-A after he was called up to replace Joey Meneses (paternity) on the active roster Wednesday. Alu went 2-for-4 in Thursday's loss to the Marlins and has now gone 3-for-13 in limited action in the majors this season. With Meneses back Friday, Alu was the odd man out and will have to wait for his next opportunity with the big-league club.

  • Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA

Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Nabs first big-league steal

Edwards went 2-for-3 with a double, a run, an RBI and a stolen base Thursday in a 5-3 win over Washington.

Edwards had his best game as a major leaguer in the victory, producing his first multi-hit performance, his first extra-base hit and his first theft. He also recorded his first RBI with a run-scoring single in the fourth inning. Edwards was called back up to the big club Tuesday after going 1-for-6 during his first stint in the majors earlier this month.
