  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Drives in two runs

Lux went 1-for-2 with two RBI and two walks in Friday's 5-3 win over Colorado.

All five of the Dodgers' runs came in the fourth inning, starting with a two-run single by Lux. The 24-year-old looks to be in line for consistent playing time at second base this season. Once considered a top prospect, Lux posted a disappointing .692 OPS through 381 plate appearances last season.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Smacks key homer Friday

Estrada went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Marlins.

Getting the start at second base and hitting seventh with Tommy La Stella (Achilles) sidelined for the Giants, Estrada made an impact by depositing an Anthony Bender pitch over the wall in left-center to tie the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth inning. Estrada hit seven homers in 52 games last year in a utility role with an .812 OPS, and he's expected to see the bulk of the work at the keystone while La Stella is out.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Two hits in debut

Stott went 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI in a 9-5 win Friday over Oakland.

Stott batted eighth and played third base in his major-league debut. The heralded prospect singled and scored in the sixth inning and added a RBI double in the eighth. After a monster spring in which he slashed .419/.514/.581, the 24-year-old was given the start over Alec Bohm in the Phillies' opener. Stott primarily played shortstop in the minors last year and should find a way into the lineup on a consistent basis, albeit likely at the bottom of the order.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Not in Friday's lineup

Kim is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Kim received the start at shortstop Opening Day and went 0-for-3 with a walk, two runs and a stolen base during the loss to Arizona. Top prospect CJ Abrams will step into the lineup for San Diego on Friday.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Swipes bag Opening Day

Kim went 0-for-3 with a walk, two runs and a stolen base in Thursday's loss to Arizona.

Though he didn't manage to produce any hits, Kim scored both of San Diego's runs out of the eighth spot in the order. He also nabbed the team's first theft of the campaign. Kim's opportunity for the Opening Day start was largely due to the absence of Fernando Tatis (wrist), though the recent promotion of CJ Abrams to the majors figures to cut into Kim's playing time to some extent.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Two hits in Thursday's win

McNeil went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Thursday's win over the Nationals.

Getting the start in left field and batting eighth Opening Day, McNeil flashed his contact skills that seemed to desert him in 2021. The outfield start came with Brandon Nimmo (neck) sidelined and Dominic Smith sitting against southpaw Patrick Corbin, but most of McNeil's playing time this season is likely to come at second base.

  • Reds' Brandon Drury: Goes deep Opening Day

Drury went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Thursday's 6-3 win over Atlanta.

Batting out of the ninth spot in the order, Drury produced half of the Reds' runs on one swing when he belted a three-run shot in the sixth inning. The veteran's starting nod was largely due to injuries to other players, as he is expected to fill mostly a utility and bench role this season. Drury has some power -- he's hit 13 or more homers in three different big-league campaigns -- but there's no reason to grab him off the fantasy waiver wire based on one strong performance.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Hits big home run

Hoerner went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the Brewers.

Chicago entered the fifth inning down 1-0 but Hoerner helped spark a rally with his two-run blast against Milwaukee ace Corbin Burnes. Hoerner figures to see regular playing time at shortstop while Andrelton Simmons (shoulder) is out, and the former has the offensive skills to be a fantasy contributor.

  • Alan Trejo SS | COL

Rockies' Alan Trejo: Makes Opening Day roster

Trejo has made the Rockies' Opening Day roster, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports.

Trejo spent the final month and a half of the 2021 season at Triple-A Albuquerque, but he'll begin this year with the major-league club. The 25-year-old appeared in 15 Cactus League games this spring and hit .226 with three doubles, two runs and an RBI.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Officially lands on 10-day IL

Rojas (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday that Rojas will miss "weeks, not days" due to a Grade 2 right oblique strain, so his placement on the injured list isn't very surprising. Drew Ellis will start at third base and bat eighth Opening Day for Arizona, while Sergio Alcantara should also see playing time at the hot corner while Rojas is sidelined.
