  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Takes seat Saturday

Rojas isn't starting Saturday's game against Colorado.

Rojas will be on the bench for the third time in the last four games after he went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts Friday. Geraldo Perdomo will start at shortstop and bat eighth.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Retreats to bench

India isn't starting Saturday's game against the Pirates.

India will get a rare day off after he went 1-for-11 with a walk and three strikeouts across the last three games. Max Schrock will shift to second base while Delino DeShields enters the lineup in center field.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Optioned to Triple-A

Estrada (hand) was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday, Amy Gutierrez of the Giants' official site reports.

Estrada was hit in the hand by a pitch Tuesday and hadn't started a game since then, though he did appear off the bench. He's evidently not particularly injured, as he's been optioned instead of placed on the injured list. Whether or not he plays a role in the postseason remains to be seen, but his defensive versatility and .273/.333/.479 slash line in 132 major-league plate appearances this season seemingly give him a chance.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Not starting Saturday

Albies will sit Saturday against the Mets.

Albies is one of several Atlanta regulars who will get the day off Saturday as the team prioritizes staying sharp for the playoffs. Orlando Arcia will start at second base.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Battling rib issue

Garcia remains out of the lineup Saturday against Boston due to soreness in his rib cage, Maria Torres of The Athletic reports.

Garcia will miss his second straight game with the issue, and it's very possible he's already played his last game of the season, as the Nationals have no reason to risk him aggravating anything on the last day of the campaign. If that's the case, he'll end the year with a .242/.275/.411 line across 70 games. Jordy Mercer will make another start at second base in Garcia's absence.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Padres' Adam Frazier: Out of lineup

Frazier will be on the bench for Saturday's game against the Giants.

Frazier hits the bench after going hitless in his last two games. He now owns a .263/.325/.328 slash line in 55 games as a Padre. Ha-Seong Kim gets the start at second base.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Swats homer Friday

Marte went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Rockies on Friday.

Marte's 419-foot blast was part of Arizona's seven-run third inning, though even that wasn't enough to prevent the team from registering its 110th loss of the campaign. While Marte has been set back by multiple hamstring injuries this season, he has been the team's best hitter when healthy, slashing .317/.378/.530 with 14 homers, 48 RBI and a pair of stolen bases over 334 at-bats.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Goes deep in loss

Marte went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 9-7 loss to the Rockies.

Marte's shot was one of three home runs the Diamondbacks hit during the third inning, but starter Humberto Castellanos eventually tired and the bullpen gave it up in the ninth. Marte is finishing up strong, posting an .863 OPS with 10 home runs and 27 RBI in the 51 games since returning from a hamstring injury. He's expected to begin the 2022 season as Arizona's starting second baseman.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Remains out of lineup

Lux (neck) isn't starting Friday's game against the Brewers, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Lux will be out of the lineup for a second straight game as he continues to deal with a neck stinger, but the team doesn't sound too concerned with his long-term availability. Trea Turner will start at second base while Chris Taylor starts in center field.

  • Michael Chavis 2B | CIN

Pirates' Michael Chavis: On bench Friday

Chavis isn't starting Friday's game against the Reds.

Chavis had started each of the last two games, and he went 1-for-8 with two strikeouts. Cole Tucker will take over at second base and lead off.
