  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Exits after scary HBP

Rodgers left Monday's game against the Nationals after a fastball hit him in the helmet, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

It was a good sign to see Rodgers walk off the field after a fastball drifted high and inside, and he unsurprisingly was pulled from the contest. Garrett Hampson entered the game at second base in Rodgers' place. The extent of his injury is unknown at this time.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Extends doubles streak

    Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Sitting Sunday

Hoerner (general soreness) is out of the lineup Sunday versus the Cardinals.

A recent 9-for-20 stretch has contributed to an excellent .297/.398/.541 slash line in 19 September games for the 27-year-old.

  • Michael Chavis 2B | CIN

    Pirates' Michael Chavis: Returning Tuesday

Chavis (elbow) is expected to be activated for Tuesday's game against the Cubs, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

The Pirates will finish up a road trip Monday, and Chavis will be ready to rejoin the team when it returns home for a three-game series against Chicago that begins Tuesday. He had been playing regularly for six games in late August before suffering the injury. Chavis hit .364 with one home run and four strikeouts in 22 at-bats over that stretch. Kevin Newman has been seeing most of the starts at the keystone recently, and it's unclear how the playing time will be split over the final six games of the season once Chavis is activated.
