  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Two more hits in loss

Garcia went 2-for-4 in Tuesday's 6-1 loss to the Rays.

The 20-year-old continues to string together hits, although at this stage of his career they're mostly singles. Garcia is slashing .325/.341/.375 through 12 games in September with three RBI and four runs.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Hits off tee

Marte (wrist) hit off a tee for the first time since being placed on the injured list, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo is optimistic Marte will return before the end of the season, although the Diamondbacks have just 11 games left. The organization must decide whether or not it's worth having Marte return to play regularly instead of evaluating its prospects during a season going nowhere.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Lux is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Lux sits for the fourth time in the last five games. Two of those have come against righties like Tuesday's starter, Zach Davies. With a .163/.250/.349 slash line on the season, it wouldn't be a surprise if his role remains somewhat marginal, though those numbers have come in a small sample of just 12 games. Chris Taylor will be the second baseman Tuesday.

  • Luis Urias 2B | ATH

Brewers' Luis Urias: On bench Tuesday

Urias is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against St. Louis.

Urias sits after going 0-for-11 with five strikeouts over his last five games. Jace Peterson takes over at third base.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

    Mets' Jeff McNeil: Starting Tuesday

McNeil (illness) will bat seventh and play left field Tuesday against the Phillies.

Gastrointestinal discomfort forced McNeil to make an early exit from Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, but the issue evidently hasn't lingered. He'll look to keep his excellent September going against the Phillies, as he owns a 1.300 OPS since the start of the month.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Pirates' Adam Frazier: Heads to bench

Frazier is not in the lineup Tuesday against Cincinnati.

Frazier hits the bench after starting 10 straight games. Bryan Reynolds slides to left field in his absence, with Cole Tucker starting in center.

  • Isan Diaz 2B | DET

Marlins' Isan Diaz: Done for season

Diaz was placed on the 45-day injured list Tuesday with a left groin strain, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.

This may not require 45 days worth of recovery, but with two weeks left in the season, he won't be able to return and this move allows the team to add another player (Sean Rodriguez) to the 40-man roster. It was a year to forget for Diaz, who opted out of the season after two games in late July, then rejoined the team in early September, only to play in five games before suffering this injury. He got on base at a .182 clip with zero home runs and zero steals in 22 at-bats.

  • Isan Diaz 2B | DET

Marlins' Isan Diaz: Exits with left groin tightness

Diaz exited Monday's game against the Phillies with left groin tightness.

Diaz was removed from Monday's contest to start the fourth inning, and he's considered day-to-day while dealing with his injury. The 24-year-old went 0-for-1 prior to leaving the game.

  • Brewers' Ronny Rodriguez: Cast off 40-man roster

The Brewers designated Rodriguez for assignment Monday.

Rodriguez's removal from the 40-man roster clears room for reliever Ray Black (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 45-day injured list ahead of Monday's doubleheader with the Cardinals. The 28-year-old infielder competed for a reserve role with the big club in summer camp, but he failed to crack the Brewers' Opening Day roster and has spent the entire 2020 season at the team's alternate training site.

  • Isan Diaz 2B | DET

Marlins' Isan Diaz: Receiving steady work

Diaz will start at second base and will bat eighth in Monday's game against the Phillies, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Since opting back in for the 2020 season and being reinstated from the Marlins' restricted list Sept. 10, Diaz has picked up four starts in seven games. Though Miguel Rojas and Jazz Chisholm look to be the Marlins' primary starters in the middle infield, manager Don Mattingly will continue to get creative to at least find part-time work for Diaz, who has gone 4-for-21 at the dish so far this season.
