Michael Chavis 2B | CIN
Pirates' Michael Chavis: Gaining foothold in everyday lineup
Chavis will start at first base and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Rockies in Pittsburgh.
Chavis will pick up his second straight start at first base, and he looks like he'll have a path to an everyday role against both right- and left-handed pitching after the Pirates moved Daniel Vogelbach (hamstring) to the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Over a 12-game stretch dating back to May 9, Chavis has slashed .395/.415/.605 with five extra-base hits, three runs, three RBI and a 1:9 BB:K.

Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM
Twins' Jorge Polanco: Remains out of lineup
Polanco isn't starting Wednesday against Detroit.
After starting in all but one of the first 42 games of the season, Polanco will be out of the lineup for a second straight game after he went 1-for-4 with a run and two strikeouts in Monday's series opener against the Tigers. The Twins haven't given any indication that Polanco is dealing with an injury, but Nick Gordon will start at the keystone and bat eighth Wednesday.

Jose Altuve 2B | HOU
Astros' Jose Altuve: Scores twice
Altuve went 2-for-4 with two runs scored Tuesday against the Guardians.
Altuve collected a single in both the third and fifth frames and scored on each occasion. He has at least one hit in nine of his last 10 games and maintained a .357 average with four home runs, five RBI and 10 runs scored in that span. Overall, Altuve has an excellent .936 OPS and .405 wOBA across 126 plate appearances.

Brendan Rodgers 2B | BOS
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Gets Wednesday off
Rodgers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh.
Garrett Hampson will take over at the keystone while Rodgers receives his first day off since May 11. Rodgers is in the midst of a 12-game hitting streak, during which he's produced a .902 OPS and five extra-base knocks.

Enrique Hernandez SS | LAD
Red Sox's Enrique Hernandez: Heating up
Hernandez went 2-for-6 with a solo home run and a second RBI and run scored in Tuesday's 16-3 win over the White Sox.
Hernandez got the game-opening onslaught started with a home run off Dylan Cease. The Red Sox went on to post season highs in runs and hits. Hernandez is batting .200 for the season, but he's hit safely in 10 of the last 11 games, during which he's slashing .292/.352/.479 with seven extra-base hits, seven RBI and 10 runs scored.

Gleyber Torres 2B | DET
Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Goes yard twice in win
Torres went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Orioles.
The infielder launched two of the Yankees' four solo shots off Baltimore starter Bruce Zimmermann, but Torres' biggest contribution came in the 11th inning as he crossed the plate as the phantom runner to tie the game and set up Jose Trevino's walkoff hit. Torres snapped an 11-game homer drought with the performance, and on the season he's slashing .241/.285/.451 with seven home runs and 21 RBI through 40 games.

Andy Ibanez 2B | NYM
Rangers' Andy Ibanez: Slump continues
Ibanez started at third base and went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Angels.
Ibanez is batting just .050 (2-for-40) over 14 games since May 4. Texas third basemen rank last in the majors with a -0.8 WAR, so it's fair wonder when they make a change. Ibanez has started 20 of the team's 41 games at third base while also playing seven at DH, six at first base and two at second.

Josh Rojas 3B | CHW
Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Available off bench
Rojas (hand) was available off the bench if needed for Tuesday's game, Jack Sommers of MLB.com reports.
The Diamondbacks did not use Rojas in their 8-6 win over the Royals. The infielder took infield and batting practice ahead of Tuesday's series finale with Kansas City, but manager Torey Lovullo preferred to "stay away" from using Rojas if possible. With a scheduled day off Wednesday, Rojas will get another 24 hours of healing in before the series opener against the Dodgers on Thursday.

Mark Mathias 2B | CIN
Brewers' Mark Mathias: Contract selected by Milwaukee
Mathias had his contract selected by the Brewers on Tuesday.
Mathias was unable to earn a spot on Milwaukee's Opening Day roster, but he'll join the big-league club Tuesday with Hunter Renfroe headed to the injured list. The 27-year-old should serve as a reserve outfielder with Christian Yelich, Lorenzo Cain, Tyrone Taylor and Andrew McCutchen covering the three outfield spots and designated hitter.

Josh Rojas 3B | CHW
Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Remains on bench
Rojas (hand) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.
Rojas will be on the bench for the third game in a row due to a bruised left hand. With Rojas' main replacement in the lineup, Drew Ellis, exiting Monday's 9-5 win with side discomfort and also taking a seat Tuesday, the Diamondbacks will break in Jake Hager at third base.
