Nationals second baseman Danny Espinosa is emerging from his 0-for-11 slump to begin the season. Espinosa is batting .316 (6 for 19) with two walks, two RBI and four doubles in his last five games.

Espinosa said he has a new attitude toward dealing with slumps, according to The Washington Post.

"There were certain times last year where the frustration would kick in and it would eat me alive." Espinosa said. "I’d go home. I’d think about it. I couldn’t let anything go. Now this year, I want to go back to having fun, like I did in the minor leagues."

Nationals second baseman Danny Espinosa doubled in two runs in Wednesday's win over the White Sox for his first RBI of the season. He also added a single in four at-bats, lifting his season line to .200/.250/.333 in 32 plate appearances.

White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham (wrist) could end up on the disabled list, the Chicago Sun-Times reports Wednesday. Beckham left Tuesday's game with left wrist irriation and wasn't feeling better Wednesday. 

The infielder is taking anti-inflammatories but an MRI will be performed if he doesn't feel any better Thursday. 

"You kind of prepare for it,'' manager Robin Ventura said of Beckham possibly going on the DL. "But you hope it doesn't happen."

Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus had two RBI with runners in scoring position Tuesday against the Rays, increasing his RBI total to four with runners in scoring position in five games. Andrus is continuing a trend of being a clutch hitter from 2012, when he hit .350 with RISP.

Andrus just now has to turn his focus to producing in all situations. He's batting .250 through eight games.

"I need to have the same focus when I have nobody on," Andrus said, per ESPN.com. "I'd be hitting .300 for my career. I just love it. Anytime I have that situation I try to close the field to a tunnel, to a gap and just try to shoot the ball in the middle. I feel way better. I'm seeing pitches better."

As expected, White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham was left out of the starting lineup Wednesday at Washington because of nerve irritation in his left wrist. Jeff Keppinger started at second base in Beckham's absence.

Beckham is batting .316 (6 for 19) with one RBI and no extra-base hits through seven games.

Jose Altuve drove in four runs and hit one of Houston's five home runs, and the Astros broke out of their slump with a 16-9 win against the Mariners Tuesday.

"We showed today what the team really has," Altuve said. "I guess the guys wake up today. I look at it that way."

Altuve finished 4 for 6 with four RBI, two runs and one double. Altuve, who was hitless in his previous two games, is batting .353 (12 for 34) with two doubles and four RBI in eight games.

X-rays on second baseman Gordon Beckham's wrist showed no structural damage, the White Sox announced Tuesday.

The second baseman told the Chicago Tribune that he injured his wrist on a 2-1 pitch and could be out for at least two days due to the soreness on his wrist.

Beckham left the game in the second inning after striking out swinging. He was replaced by Angel Sanchez. Beckham is listed as day to day, according to Comcast SportsNet Chicago.

White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham was forced out of Tuesday's game against the Nationals with a possible oblique injury.

Beckham appeared to have suffered the injury while striking out swinging in his first at-bat in the second inning. He finished 0 for 1 and is batting .316/.333/.316 this season.

The White Sox have yet to provide details on Beckham's injury.

Padres infielder Logan Forsythe suffered a setback with his plantar fasciitis during the spring that caused him to start the year on the disabled list. But it was discovered that the setback actually gave him an opportunity to begin healing more quickly, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune. 

"I’m told there was a benefit to that setback," said Forsythe Tuesday. "The short-term affect was that I started the season on the disabled list. But the long-term benefit is that it gave me a jump start on the healing."

The plan for Forsythe is to remain in a protective boot until April 17. He will then begin rehab. 

"We have to exhibit a lot of patience with Logan," said manager Bud Black. "There is no ETA."
