  • Luis Guillorme 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Luis Guillorme: Idle against lefty

Guillorme is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

With southpaw Justin Wrobleski toeing the rubber for the Dodgers, the lefty-hitting Guillorme will open the contest on the bench. Platoon mate Kevin Newman checks in for Guillorme at second base.

  • Brett Wisely 2B | SF

Giants' Brett Wisely: Getting second straight start

Wisely will start at second base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Wisely has now picked up starts in consecutive contests to close out the weekend, and he should be in store for a strong-side platoon role at the keystone after the Giants recently moved Thairo Estrada off the 40-man roster. Over 218 plate appearances with the big club this season, Wisely has supplied a .250/.286/.368 slash line to go with three home runs and two stolen bases.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | KC

Royals' Adam Frazier: Shifting to bench role

Frazier is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Frazier will take a seat for the fourth game in a row and looks to have moved into a part-time role. He had been serving as the Royals' primary option in right field after Hunter Renfroe (hamstring) landed on the injured list, but waiver pickup Tommy Pham now looks poised to handle those duties.

  • Will Wagner 2B | TOR

Blue Jays' Will Wagner: Getting day off

Wagner is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

Wagner will take a seat after he had started in four of the Blue Jays' previous five games. Leo Jimenez will fill in for Wagner at second base.

  • Michael Helman CF | MIN

Twins' Michael Helman: Called up Sunday

The Twins selected Helman's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday, LaVelle E. Neal III of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Helman will receive his first taste of the big leagues with MLB rosters expanding to 28 players Sunday. The 28-year-old has a .282/.366/.502 slash line with 13 home runs and 10 steals in 63 games with St. Paul this season and will provide the Twins with some infield depth.

  • Nicky Lopez 2B | CHW

White Sox's Nicky Lopez: On bench against southpaw

Lopez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

With lefty Sean Manaea on the hill, the lefty-hitting Lopez will retreat to the bench for the series finale. The White Sox recently placed Lopez on waivers, but with the 29-year-old going unclaimed, he appears set to stick around in the organization for the rest of the season. Lopez should continue to play regularly against right-handed pitching.

  • Brooks Baldwin 2B | CHW

White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Nursing hand injury

Baldwin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets while tending to a right hand injury, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. "Probably take it slow," interim manager Grady Sizemore said in regard to Baldwin's recovery from the injury. "We are going to see how batting practice goes, and I think he's going to have probably just down at least [Sunday and Monday] and see how he's doing Tuesday."

The injury helps explain why Baldwin will be on the bench Sunday for a fifth consecutive game after he had previously handled a near-everyday role in the White Sox middle infield following his call-up from Triple-A Charlotte on July 19. The White Sox should have steady playing time available in the infield for Nicky Lopez, Miguel Vargas and Lenyn Sosa while Baldwin is tending to the injury.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | NYM

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Taking seat vs. lefty

McNeil is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

The Mets will run out a right-handed-heavy lineup to counter White Sox southpaw Garrett Crochet in the series finale. McNeil will be joined on the bench by fellow left-handed hitters Jesse Winker and Brandon Nimmo.

  • Nick Loftin 2B | KC

Royals' Nick Loftin: Returns to Triple-A

The Royals optioned Loftin to Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.

The 25-year-old was called up by the Royals on Thursday but won't stick in the majors long following the additions of veterans Tommy Pham, Robbie Grossman and Yuli Gurriel. Loftin hasn't done much while up in the big leagues this season and has a .518 OPS in 57 games.

  • Red Sox's Enmanuel Valdez: Gets called up

The Red Sox recalled Valdez from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday.

He'll be one of two September call-ups for Boston, with right-handed reliever Chase Shugart also getting moved up from Triple-A. Over his 189 plate appearances at the big-league level this season, Valdez has slashed .224/.282/.400 with six home runs and one stolen base. Though he's not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Valdez could push for playing time in the middle infield while David Hamilton (finger) is on the injured list.
