  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Royals' Adam Frazier: Back from bereavement list

The Royals reinstated Frazier (personal) from the bereavement list Friday.

The 32-year-old has been away from the team for the past few days to tend to personal matters but is now back with the Royals. Frazier hasn't been operating in an everyday role but has been a solid contributor since the start of May with a .266/.329/.422 slash line in 24 games.

  • Cavan Biggio RF | HOU

Dodgers' Cavan Biggio: Making another start versus righty

Biggio is in the lineup at third base and batting eighth Thursday versus the Rangers.

Biggio is getting his second start at third base for the Dodgers after going 1-for-3 in his debut for the team Wednesday. Thursday's start comes with righty Michael Lorenzen on the mound for the Rangers. With Max Muncy (oblique) remaining on the injured list and Enrique Hernandez sitting for a second straight game, it appears Biggio will be the primary option at third versus right-handers.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Collects season-high four hits

Albies went 4-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored Thursday against the Orioles.

Albies' first-inning double set the stage for Atlanta to take an early lead, and his double in the ninth eventually led to a couple of insurance runs as a tight one-run lead turned into a three-run victory. Albies collected multiple hits for the 17th time this season, though it's just the second time he's had three or more in a game. His four-hit effort came on the heels of a seven-game stretch in which he had collected just four hits total, batting .143 over 28 at-bats during that span.

  • Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM

Mariners' Jorge Polanco: On verge of rehab assignment

Polanco (hamstring) is slated to run the bases before Thursday's game against the White Sox and then head out on a rehab assignment, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Polanco has been progressively ramping up his level of activity in recent days, apparently without any setbacks. MLB.com reports that general manager Justin Hollander indicated team trainers would jointly assess Polanco's condition with the veteran infielder following Thursday's activity, at which point the length of the rehab assignment would likely be determined.

  • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Timely double in loss

Gelof went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in a loss to the Padres on Wednesday.

Gelof's eighth-inning two-bagger brought home Seth Brown to extend the Athletics' lead to 4-2 at the time. The infielder now has a trio of two-hit efforts in the last seven games, but his 33.3 percent strikeout rate in that same span is emblematic of the persistent struggles that have led to his .194 average and .572 OPS across 203 plate appearances this season.

  • Alika Williams SS | PIT

Pirates' Alika Williams: Beginning rehab assignment

Williams (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday.

Williams has been absent for most of this month with a right wrist sprain but is feeling well enough to test himself in a game setting. He's eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list at any time and shouldn't need a lengthy rehab assignment, given his brief absence.

  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Getting day off

Gonzales is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in St. Louis.

Gonzales looks to be getting a routine maintenance day after he had started in every game for the Pirates dating back to May 13. The second-year infielder recorded a double in both of the first two games of the series, giving him 12 extra-base hits through 119 plate appearances on the season. Jared Triolo will get the nod at second base Thursday while Gonzales rests.

  • Nick Loftin 1B | KC

Royals' Nick Loftin: Not in Thursday's lineup

Loftin is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Yankees.

Loftin had started each of the last five games at second base, but he will begin Thursday's contest on the bench. Garrett Hampson will occupy the keystone for the Royals as they try to avoid a sweep.

  • Colt Keith 3B | DET

Tigers' Colt Keith: Sitting against left-hander

Keith is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

Southpaw Patrick Corbin is on the bump for the Nationals, so the left-handed-hitting Keith will begin the contest on the bench. Andy Ibanez will handle second base for the Tigers.

  • Red Sox's Enmanuel Valdez: Delivers as pinch hitter

Valdez entered Wednesday's game as a pinch hitter and went 1-for-1 with a walk, a double and two RBI in an 8-6 win over Philadelphia.

He delivered a two-out, two-run double as a pinch hitter for Jamie Westbrook, giving the Red Sox a lead they would not relinquish. Valdez remained in the game and played second base. Since a wave of infield injuries led to him becoming the starting second baseman against right-handers, Valdez is 5-for-22 with a home run, two doubles and seven RBI over eight contests.
