  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Delivers key hits Sunday

Gorman went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a walk in Sunday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Phillies.

Gorman opened the scoring with a two-run blast in the first inning and also provided the Cardinals with their winning run by adding an RBI single in the 10th. This was his fourth multi-hit effort over the last nine games, a span in which he's gone 11-for-32 (.344) with four homers and 10 RBI. He's up to a .223/.310/.457 slash line, 11 long balls, 28 RBI, 25 runs scored and two stolen bases through 51 contests. Gorman has been a near-everyday player lately, though the Cardinals called up Jose Fermin on Friday for infield depth, which could lead to Gorman sitting out against some southpaws moving forward.

  • Jorbit Vivas 2B | WAS

Yankees' Jorbit Vivas: Healthy again at Triple-A

Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre reinstated Vivas (undisclosed) from the 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Vivas has made five starts since being activated, going 4-for-17 with four walks, three RBI and three runs. The 23-year-old has already been on the IL on two occasions in 2024, as he opened the season on the shelf due to an orbital fracture that he suffered late in spring training. Vivas is slashing .208/.333/.292 overall through seven games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Homers twice, doubles

Marte went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double and a walk Sunday against the Mets, finishing with three RBI and two runs scored.

Marte got the scoring going in the top of the first with a leadoff homer against Jose Quintana. He saved his best for last though, launching a decisive two-run shot in the ninth to propel Arizona to a 5-4 victory. The multi-HR performance was Marte's first of the season and the seventh of his career. The 30-year-old is off to a strong start, slashing .270/.330/.502 with 12 home runs, 32 RBI and 39 runs scored in 58 games.

  • Kody Clemens 1B | MIN

Phillies' Kody Clemens: Scratched from lineup

Clemens was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Cardinals due to back spasms, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Clemens was set to start at second base and bat seventh against St. Louis, but he'll now take a seat due to his ailing back. Whit Merrifield will replace him in the lineup.

  • Edouard Julien 2B | COL

Twins' Edouard Julien: Demotion could be coming

Julien had a meeting with manager Rocco Baldelli and subsequently met with teammates after Sunday's win over the Astros, which could indicate the second baseman is headed to Triple-A St. Paul as Royce Lewis (quadriceps) is set to return from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Julien hit out of the No. 9 hole Sunday and went 0-for-2 with a walk, which dropped his season slash line to .207/.309/.367 through 58 games. The 25-year-old has a 34 percent strikeout rate this year, and the return of Lewis provides an opportunity for Julien to get back on track in a lower-pressure environment. The Twins have yet to make an official announcement regarding Lewis and who he'll replace on the MLB roster.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Going through concussion protocol

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Mateo is going through the concussion protocol after exiting Sunday's game versus the Rays, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Mateo was struck in the head by the bat of teammate Cedric Mullins around the on-deck circle and was subsequently removed from the contest. It remains to be seen if Mateo will miss additional time, and he should be considered day-to-day as he continues to be evaluated.

  • Alan Trejo SS | COL

Rockies' Alan Trejo: Picking up rare start Sunday

Trejo will start at second base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Trejo will crack the starting nine for the first time since May 24 while everyday second baseman Brendan Rodgers gets a day out of the field and serves as the Rockies' designated hitter. Though he's been on the active roster since Opening Day, Trejo has made just 12 starts in 58 games and has logged only 34 plate appearances.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: On bench against lefty

Lux is not in the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Rockies.

Lux has gone 3-for-17 over his past six contests and will head to the bench Sunday as southpaw Austin Gomber takes the mound for Colorado. Miguel Rojas will step in at the keystone and bat sixth in the series finale.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Departs with head injury

Mateo was removed from Sunday's game against the Rays with an apparent head injury, Melanie Newman of MASN reports.

The 28-year-old appeared to be struck in the head by a bat around the on-deck circle during the fourth inning and was replaced by a pinch hitter shortly thereafter. He singled in his lone plate appearance before exiting the contest. The specifics of the injury are unclear, but Mateo is likely being evaluated for a concussion.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Not in Sunday's lineup

Estrada (thumb) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The 28-year-old jammed his thumb Friday against New York and will sit Sunday for the second consecutive contest. Brett Wisely will shift to second base in place of Estrada while Casey Schmitt starts at shortstop.
