  • Reds' Jonathan India: Hopes to miss minimum time

Reds manager David Bell said that he's hopeful that India, who was placed on the 10-day injured list earlier Sunday due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot, will spend the minimum amount of time on the shelf, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

India acknowledged himself that he could have played through the injury at about 80 percent health, but he and the Reds both agreed that an IL stint would be in his best long-term interest. Since India's placement on the IL is retroactive to Saturday, he'll be eligible for activation Aug. 8. India's move to the IL will create a clearer path for rookie Christian Encarnacion-Strand to continuing seeing regular starts.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Heading to injured list

India was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

India was scratched from Saturday's lineup due to pain in his left heel, and he'll be sidelined for at least the next 10 days after an MRI revealed he's dealing with plantar fasciitis, which can often be a lingering long-term injury. It's unclear exactly how long the 26-year-old will be sidelined, but it'll likely be Elly De La Cruz and Matt McLain handling the middle-infield work for the near future.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Scratched with back tightness

Gorman was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Cubs due to back tightness, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Gorman was penciled in to start at second base and bat third Sunday, but the back issue will instead force him to the bench. The 23-year-old will now have two days to rest up since the Cardinals have a team day off Monday. Taylor Motter replaced him in the lineup at second base Sunday.

  • Edouard Julien 2B | COL

Twins' Edouard Julien: Heads to bench versus lefty

Julien is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

The rookie will join fellow left-handed hitters Joey Gallo and Max Kepler on the bench for the series finale while the Royals bring southpaw Ryan Yarbrough to the hill. Jorge Polanco will check in for Julien at second base after making both of his first two starts at third base upon his return from the injured list Friday.

  • Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Not starting Sunday

Donovan is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Donovan will continue to see regular rest days while limited to DH duties due to flexor strain, and he'll sit Sunday for the second time in the past three games. Paul Goldschmidt will rest his legs at designated hitter while Alec Burleson starts at first base.

  • Owen Miller 2B | CHC

Brewers' Owen Miller: Sitting in fourth straight game

Miller is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

Miller had been filling in as the Brewers' everyday first baseman in place of the injured Rowdy Tellez (finger), but he appears to have lost his grasp on that role after Milwaukee acquired Carlos Santana on Thursday. With Santana in the fold and recent Triple-A Nashville call-up Abraham Toro also picking up more work in the infield, Miller has become the odd man out of the lineup. Miller will hit the bench for the fourth game in a row and looks poised to serve as more of a utility man moving forward.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Not starting Sunday

Stott is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Stott has five hits across the first two games in Pittsburgh but will take a seat for Sunday's series finale, ending a streak of 13 straight starts. Josh Harrison will man the keystone and bat seventh.

  • Luis Rengifo 2B | MIL

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Gets another turn as leadoff man

Rengifo will start at second base and bat leadoff in Sunday's game in Toronto, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

With Zach Neto having now sat out seven times in the Angels' last eight games due to back issues, Rengifo has received a temporary look as the Angels' table setter. Since Neto first exited the lineup July 22, Rengifo has reached base in each of the last seven contests while slashing .333/.375/.733 with six extra-base knocks.

  • Liover Peguero SS | PIT

Pirates' Liover Peguero: Second career homer

Peguero went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two RBI on Saturday against the Phillies.

Peguero has been pushed out of playing time in the middle infield in recent days with Nick Gonzales serving as the primary starter at second base and Alika Williams at shortstop. However, Peguero made the case for more playing time by hitting his second big-league homer and also rolling an RBI single through the right side of the infield. He has multiple hits in two of his last three starts.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

    Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Starts Saturday

Rojas started at third base and went 0-for-3 in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Mariners.

Rojas returned to the majors after the Diamondbacks placed Evan Longoria (back) on the injured list Saturday. The lefty-hitting Rojas will share the hot corner with the righty-swinging Emmanuel Rivera, thought it's uncertain if it will be a strict right-left platoon.
