Manny Machado making history as May ends
Orioles third baseman Manny Machado has been on a tear in the month of May, and it has reached historic levels on the final day of the month. According to the MLB Network, Machado's 44 hits in the month are the most for a player under the age of 21 since Mickey Mantle had 46 in July 1952.
Machado is also tied with Tigers' third baseman Miguel Cabrera for the major-league lead in hits with 79, while leading the majors with 25 doubles.

Mike Olt expected to be activated in minors Friday
Rangers infield prospect Mike Olt is expected to be activated from the minor-league disabled list Friday, the Dallas Morning News reports. He has been out since April 25 with an eye issue and will return to Double-A Frisco.
Olt has hit .139/.235/.236 in 72 at-bats with Triple-A Round Rock this season.

Twins officially place Trevor Plouffe on 15-day DL
The Twins announced Thursday that third baseman Trevor Plouffe has officially been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to May 29, which is the day he was activated from the seven-day concussion disabled list.
Plouffe suffered a calf strain before Wednesday's game, and it was severe enough to require another trip to the disabled list. He'll be eligible to return in mid-June.

Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe is expected to be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a calf injury, manager Ron Gardenhire said Thursday.
Plouffe was activated off the 7-day concussion disabled list, Wednesday, and the new disabled-list assignment is not eligible to be backdated to include that seven-day period. Plouffe will be eligible to return in mid-June.
