  • Zack Short 3B | DET

Red Sox's Zack Short: Shipped to Boston

The Red Sox acquired Short from the Mets on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations.

Short had been designated for assignment but has now found a new home. The utility infielder is out of minor-league options, so he will join the Red Sox's 26-man active roster.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Twins' Kyle Farmer: Returns to bench role

Farmer is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Farmer will hit the bench for Wednesday's series finale after he had started in each of the last five games (three at second base, two at third base). The platoon-happy Twins should continue to find room for the righty-hitting Farmer in the lineup when southpaws are on the mound for the opposition, but Farmer's opportunities at third base will likely become more scarce moving forward. Carlos Correa returned from the 10-day injured list Monday to take back an everyday role at shortstop, and Edouard Julien and Willi Castro look first in line to start at second and third base, respectively, when the Twins oppose righties.

  • Jose Miranda 3B | MIN

Twins' Jose Miranda: On bench in second straight

Miranda is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Miranda and Kyle Farmer had recently been part of a timeshare at third base, but both could see their playing time against right-handed pitching take a hit moving forward after shortstop Carlos Correa (intercostal) was reinstated from the injured list Monday. With Correa back in the fold, Willi Castro -- who had been serving as the primary shortstop while Correa was on the shelf -- could end up seeing the bulk of the starts at the hot corner until Royce Lewis (quadricep) is ready to return from the 10-day IL.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

Rays' Isaac Paredes: Receives Wednesday off

Paredes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Paredes will exit the lineup for the first time since April 18, ending a stretch of 11 consecutive starts during which he posted an .848 OPS. Curtis Mead will spell Paredes at third base and will bat ninth.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Mariners' Josh Rojas: Notches stolen base Tuesday

Rojas went 1-for-1 with three walks, a steal and a run scored in Tuesday's win over Atlanta.

Rojas reached base each time he stepped up to the plate and came around to score on a two-run homer by Jorge Polanco in the third. It was just the second time this season he's drawn multiple walks in a game. He's now led off in all four of his starts since J.P. Crawford (oblique) was placed on the IL last week and has managed two homers, four runs, a steal and a 4:1 BB:K in 16 plate appearances thus far. Crawford is expected to be sidelined for a little while longer and Rojas figures to remain atop of the order for the time being, at least against right-handed pitching.

  • Josh H. Smith SS | TEX

Rangers' Josh Smith: Goes deep Tuesday

Smith went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and scored twice during Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Nationals.

Smith's second-inning single and sixth-inning solo shot give the 26-year-old infielder his third multi-hit game in his last five contests. He is 7-for-14 two homers, three RBI and three runs scored during that stretch and now boats an impressive .917 OPS on the season while filling in as Josh Jung's (wrist) replacement.

  • Danny Mendick 3B | CHW

White Sox's Danny Mendick: Belts first homer

Mendick went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double during Tuesday's loss to the Twins.

Mendick has never been known to be a power hitter, but his two-run shot in the fifth inning gave Chicago a 4-2 lead over the Twins in a game the White Sox would eventually lose. The 30-year-old infielder has now collected a hit in four of his last five games and is slashing .286/.324/.457 across 37 plate appearances since joining the Sox on April 22.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Finally goes yard

Bregman went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run Tuesday against the Guardians.

Bregman has been off to a slow start this season but has improved of late, as he's collected six hits in his last 23 at-bats. He also slugged his first home run of the season Tuesday. While Bregman has only a .078 ISO in 113 plate appearances this season, he's striking out at just a 12.4 percent clip, meaning his .216 average should continue to rise.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Swipes eighth bag

Garcia went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Blue Jays.

Garcia has hit safely in five straight games, going 8-for-22 (.364) with two steals, four RBI and four runs scored in that span. He continues to improve at the plate as he shakes off a slow start to the campaign. Overall, the 24-year-old is slashing .231/.280/.388 with four home runs, 20 RBI, 15 runs scored and eight steals through 30 contests this season.

  • Grae Kessinger SS | NYM

Astros' Grae Kessinger: Heads to 10-day IL

Kessinger was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with right shoulder discomfort, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Kessinger has only been featured in the Astros' starting lineup once this season and remains hitless through 10 plate appearances across eight games. Joey Loperfido will take Kessinger's spot on the active roster and is part of Houston's starting lineup Tuesday.
