Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA
Angels' Anthony Rendon: Shut down two more weeks
Angels manager Phil Nevin said Saturday that Rendon will be shut down from baseball activities for at least two weeks after an MRI revealed a deep bone bruise in his left shin, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Nevin added that Rendon is dealing with bleeding in the bone, so the veteran third baseman will be rested until at least the first week of August until the team reassesses his condition. Rendon has been on the shelf since July 11 and can safely be ruled out through mid-August, given the buildup process that he'll require following the two-week shutdown period. Mike Moustakas and Eduardo Escobar should continue sharing time at third base for the Halos, though Luis Rengifo could be a factor at the position once second baseman Brandon Drury (shoulder) returns from the injured list.

Taylor Walls 3B | TB
Rays' Taylor Walls: Placed on IL with oblique strain
Walls was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left oblique strain, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The injured occurred during Thursday's loss to the Orioles. No timetable for Walls' return has been established, but it's an injury which typically requires more than a minimum stay on the IL. Isaac Paredes should see a little more playing time with Walls out and Vidal Brujan -- who has taken Walls' spot on the roster -- could also get some starts.

Zack Gelof 2B | ATH
Athletics' Zack Gelof: On base thrice in loss
Gelof went 1-for-3 with two walks and a run in a loss to the Astros on Friday.
Gelof worked out of the No. 2 spot in the order for the third time in his first seven games and did a good job getting on base for the heart of the Athletics' lineup. Jordan Diaz's bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning resulted in Gelof crossing the plate with the fourth run of his nascent career. Gelof has gotten on base in six of his first seven contests and has already generated a trio of extra-base hits, although he's still in search of his first home run.

Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE
Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Busy on basepaths Friday
Ramirez went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two stolen bases in Friday's 6-5 win over the Phillies.
All four hits were singles, but Ramirez made the most of his trips around the bases. The veteran third baseman has three multi-hit performances in the last four games, boosting his slash line on the season to .294/.366/.499 with 14 homers, 12 steals, 54 RBI and 61 runs in 93 contests.

Alex Bregman 3B | CHC
Astros' Alex Bregman: Homers in consecutive contests
Bregman went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-4 win over the Athletics.
Bregman has homered in back-to-back games, and he's gone yard three times over his last five contests. The third baseman is up to 15 homers, 62 RBI, 57 runs scored, three stolen bases and a .249/.343/.414 slash line through 97 games this season. While the overall numbers aren't great, he's batting .287 (31-for-108) with seven multi-hit efforts since June 18.

Trey Cabbage 1B | PIT
Angels' Trey Cabbage: Pops first big-league homer
Cabbage went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 8-5 win over the Pirates.
Cabbage is hitting .333 (5-for-15) through his first six major-league contests. He was able to check off another milestone Friday with his first homer, a solo shot in the fourth inning off Johan Oviedo. The 26-year-old is likely to continue playing mostly against right-hander pitchers, and it appears the Angels are content to trot out a platoon of Cabbage and Eduardo Escobar at first base for now, with Mike Moustakas seeing more work at third base.
-
Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW
Angels' Mike Moustakas: Clubs three-run homer
Moustakas went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 8-5 win over the Pirates.
Moustakas put the Angels ahead with his fourth-inning blast, and they held the lead the rest of the way. The infielder has found a bit of consistency, hitting safely in seven of his last eight games. He's gone just 8-for-33 (.242) in that span, but four of those hits have been homers. For the season, he's up to nine long balls, 28 RBI, 29 runs scored and a .254/.335/.446 slash line through 64 contests.

Royce Lewis 3B | MIN
Twins' Royce Lewis: Has begun baseball activities
Lewis (oblique) began playing catch last weekend and took swings Friday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
The Twins are aiming for a mid-August return for Lewis, who suffered a Grade 2 left oblique strain July 1. He'll likely need another week or so of workouts before being considered for a rehab assignment.

Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA
Angels' Anthony Rendon: Yet to begin on-field work
Rendon (shin) had yet to resume on-field workouts as of Friday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
There have been very few status updates on Rendon since he landed on the injured list July 14 due to a left shin contusion that he suffered the week before the All-Star break. The 33-year-old has appeared in only 43 games for the Angels this season and is slashing just .236/.361/.318 when healthy.

Eduardo Escobar 3B | TOR
Angels' Eduardo Escobar: Sitting out Friday
Escobar is absent from the lineup Friday against the Pirates.
Luis Rengifo will handle second base and Mike Moustakas is playing third versus the Pirates and right-hander Johan Oviedo. Escobar has slashed just .250/.283/.286 in 16 games (60 plate appearances) since the Angels acquired him from the Mets in late June.
