Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Catches breather Tuesday

Kreidler is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles.

Kreidler snapped out of a slump by reaching base three times and driving in three runs Monday, but that did not prevent him from being held out one day later.

Astros' Alex Bregman: Expected to rest Wednesday

Manager Dusty Baker is planning to give Bregman a day off Wednesday, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Bregman will start one day after the Astros clinched the AL West, but it appears he will get a mid-week breather in order to get some rest prior to the postseason.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Could be activated this week

LeMahieu (toe) could be activated during this week's homestand, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

He took on-field batting practice Tuesday for the first time since landing on the injured list earlier this month. It doesn't sound like LeMahieu will be activated until this weekend, at the earliest.

  • Tyler Freeman 3B | COL

Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Takes seat Tuesday

Freeman isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's matchup against the White Sox, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Drives in pair

Bregman went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Monday's 4-0 win over the Rays.

Bregman provided a two-RBI double in the sixth inning and now has an extra-base hit in three consecutive games. The performance continued a productive stretch, as he has maintained a .314 average with 10 RBI and six runs scored across his last 10 starts. Bregman will look to end the campaign on a strong note, and his .846 OPS across 603 plate appearances is his highest mark since 2019.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Leading off Tuesday

Henderson will man third base and hit leadoff in Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Henderson hit no higher than cleanup over his first 18 appearances as a big leaguer, but manager Brandon Hyde decided to switch things up with the Orioles' offense looking for a spark, so the rookie will get a shot to show what he can do atop the order.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Records steal in win

Ramirez went 2-for-5 with an RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in Monday's 11-4 win over the Twins.

Ramirez has logged two steals in his last three games and three in four attempts in September. For the season, he's up to 17 swiped bags in 24 tries. The third baseman recorded his first multi-hit effort in six contests Monday. He's posted a .279/.357/.525 slash line with 28 home runs, 113 RBI and 82 runs scored across 143 games this year.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Not in Monday's lineup

Candelario isn't starting Monday against the Orioles.

Candelario went 0-for-3 with an RBI during Sunday's loss to the White Sox and will head to the bench for the second time in the last three games. Miguel Cabrera is serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup.

  • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Finishing year at Triple-A

The Athletics promoted Gelof from Double-A Midland to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.

Gelof, who appeared in three games for Las Vegas in 2021, will rejoin the Athletics' top affiliate after Midland's season concluded Sunday. Over 402 plate appearances at the Double-A level this season, Gelof slashed .271/.356/.438 with 13 home runs and nine stolen bases.

  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Back on bench after three starts

Walls is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls closed out the Rays' weekend series with the Rangers by making three consecutive starts out of the middle infield while going 2-for-9 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and two additional runs. Though he'll be on the bench Monday, Walls should see his opportunities pick up following the recent placement of Brandon Lowe (back) on the injured list. Walls will be vying for playing time at the keystone with Jonathan Aranda and Isaac Paredes.
