Matt Chapman 3B | SF
Athletics' Matt Chapman: On base twice in return
Chapman (head) went 1-for-4 with a walk in a win over the Yankees on Friday.
Chapman returned as a starter after coming in as a defensive replacement in Thursday's series opener. The third baseman remained free of concussion symptoms after getting hit in the helmet with a pitch Wednesday against the Royals, and his ability to put in a full game in the field Friday further corroborates his health.

DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Will play bulk of games at third
LeMahieu will take over at third base for most games during Gio Urshela's (groin) absence, Mike Mazzeo of Yahoo! Sports reports.
LeMahieu has played the majority of his games at second base this season but has also spent significant time at both first and third. He shifted over to the hot corner upon Urshela's exit from Wednesday's game, started at third Friday and is in the lineup at the same position Saturday. The move is likely to be short-lived with Urshela expecting a minimum stay on the injured list.

Abraham Toro 1B | BOS
Astros' Abraham Toro: Losing playing time to Diaz
Toro was out of the lineup Friday against the Blue Jays.
Toro had been a regular starter at third base when he was first added to the roster last week, but he's sat out two of the last four games since Aledmys Diaz was activated off the injured list.

Alex Bregman 3B | CHC
Astros' Alex Bregman: Registers another RBI
Bregman went 2-for-5 with an RBI in Friday's win over the Blue Jays.
Bregman tacked on an insurance run in the eighth inning with an RBI infield single. He's pieced together an impressive eight-game hitting streak, registering six extra-base hits and nine RBI over that stretch.

Gio Urshela 3B | MIN
Yankees' Gio Urshela: Expects brief absence
Urshela (groin) doesn't expect to miss more than the minimum 10 days on the injured list, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.
An MRI revealed both inflammation and a strain in Urshela's groin Friday, leading to him being placed on the injured list. He appears to be in line to return when eligible a week from Sunday, though it's worth noting that the timeline came from Urshela himself and not the team.

Matt Chapman 3B | SF
Athletics' Matt Chapman: Back in action
Chapman (head) returned to the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees.
Chapman didn't start Thursday's game after getting hit in the head Wednesday, though he did appear off the bench. He'll bat second and play third base for Friday's contest.

Gio Urshela 3B | MIN
Yankees' Gio Urshela: Moves to injured list
Urshela was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left groin strain, retroactive to Aug. 29.
Urshela was removed from Wednesday's game with left groin tightness and believed he'd be able to rejoin the lineup Friday, but he'll instead make his way to the injured list. The 27-year-old was enjoying an extremely productive August with a 1.076 OPS, eight doubles, seven home runs and 18 RBI in 26 games. It's unclear how long Urshela is expected to be sidelined.

Jake Burger 1B | TEX
White Sox's Jake Burger: Working in Arizona
Burger (Achilles) has been taking swings and working out at the White Sox complex in Glendale (Ariz.), Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Chicago general manager Rick Hahn discussed Burger's possible return, hoping the team's top pick in the 2017 draft can enter spring training 2020 as part of an affiliate. He hasn't played since Sept. 2017 due to Achilles and heel injuries, so targeting a return is more art than science. "There is a little bit of projection involved when you are dealing with health," Hahn said. "He's well on his way. There's been the second rupture, or the revision it's technically called, [which] was pretty stunning for everyone. Usually the Achilles going out is a shock to the system, but nobody really envisions it happening twice." Hahn added that Burger will remain a third baseman.

Matt Chapman 3B | SF
Athletics' Matt Chapman: Expected back Friday
Manager Bob Melvin said Chapman will play Friday against the Yankees, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Chapman was struck in the helmet by a pitch during Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Royals. He was cleared of any concussion symptoms, however, and appears poised to rejoin the lineup Friday after entering Thursday's series finale in the ninth inning as a defensive replacement. Through 23 games in August, Chapman is slashing .244/.337/.570 with seven home runs and seven doubles.

Alex Bregman 3B | CHC
Astros' Alex Bregman: On fire in August
Bregman went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI in Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Rays.
Bregman has opened the series with Tampa Bay with back-to-back three-hit outings and has recorded at least two hits in all but one of his past six starts. The 25-year-old has been the majors' top hitter in August, slashing an incredible .420/.500/.807 with six home runs, 28 RBI and 26 runs in 23 games while striking out in just 7.8 percent of his plate appearances.
