Mariners' Jean Segura: Remains out Sunday

Segura (forearm) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Make it four straight absences for Segura, who is battling an infection in his right forearm. While he remains day-to-day, a trip to the disabled list will be on the table if the infection doesn't clear up in the coming days. Andrew Romine once again gets the nod at shortstop.

  • Randy Cesar 3B | MIN

Astros' Randy Cesar: Hit streak at 40

Cesar went 1-for-4 for Double-A Corpus Christi on Saturday to extend his hitting streak to 40 games, the longest by any player in Texas League history.

On Thursday, Cesar broke a 49-year-old league record held by Bobby Trevino, who had a 37-game streak with El Paso in 1969, and he continues to set a new high nightly. The 23-year-old, who's not on anyone's prospect radar, is slashing .354/.391/.537 in his first full season at the Double-A level.

Mariners' Jean Segura: Out again Saturday

Segura is not in the lineup against the Red Sox on Saturday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Orioles' Jace Peterson: Not in Saturday's lineup

Peterson is out of the lineup against Atlanta on Saturday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

The outfielder will remain out of the starting nine for a second straight game while Mark Trumbo gets a start in left field. Over 43 games this year, Peterson is hitting .203/.321/.339 with two home runs, 17 RBI and eight stolen bases.

  • Twins' Eduardo Escobar: In Saturday's lineup

Escobar (elbow) will man third base and bat third in the order against Texas on Saturday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Escobar was forced to begin Friday's game on the bench due to a right elbow bruise, though the 29-year-old entered the contest as a pinch hitter and looks close to full health after a slight scare earlier this week. Over 69 games this year, Escobar is hitting .298 with a .923 OPS.

  • Orioles' Manny Machado: Plays hero Friday

Machado went 2-for-5 with two walks, a two-run home run, a second run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 10-7 extra-innings win over the Braves.

His blast off Peter Moylan in the top of the 15th inning helped put an end to the five-hour, 21-minute marathon contest. Machado now has 19 homers on the season to go along with his .305/.374/.561 slash line, as he puts together what's shaping up to be a career-best campaign before he heads into free agency.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Exact return date unclear

Chapman (thumb) progressed to taking swings against air Thursday, but his exact return date from the disabled list remains up in the air, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Chapman is eligible to come off the disabled list Monday, yet that remains far from a certainty, as the infielder continues to be evaluated on a day-to-day basis. Thursday's activity was certainly a step in the right direction, but manager Bob Melvin remains noncommittal about an exact activation date for Chapman at the moment. "It's just going to be based on how he feels leading up to what is hopefully an activation at some point," Melvin said. "I said the other day, Detroit at the earliest. I would still say that, but I'm not sure that's the case."

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson: May resurface for next homestand

Donaldson (calf) is not expected to rejoin the Blue Jays on their current road series in Anaheim or Houston but, with a smooth recovery, could be activated during their next homestand that starts June 29, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.

The third baseman is working out in Florida and will be sent on a minor-league rehab assignment when he proves capable of game activities. Fantasy managers setting lineups next week may only get a three-game series out of Donaldson, who's hasn't seen game action since May 28.

  • Twins' Eduardo Escobar: Remains out of Friday's lineup

Escobar (elbow) is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rangers.

Escobar is dealing with a right elbow bruise after being hit by a pitch Thursday night which will cost him at least one game. Manager Paul Moliter indicated the 29-year-old could return Saturday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports, with Taylor Motter drawing the start in his stead at third base Friday.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Mariners' Jean Segura: Remains out of Friday's lineup

Segura (forearm) is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox, TJ Cotterill of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Segura will hit the bench for the second straight day as he continues to deal with an infection in his right forearm. The infection apparently stems from a small cut, and his availability for the rest of the series in Boston remains day-to-day for now.
