Matt Duffy 3B | TEX
Rays' Matt Duffy: Out with back tightness
Duffy is not in the lineup Monday against the Indians due to back tightness, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
It's unclear when the issue crept up on Duffy, but it helps explain why he's on the bench Monday for the second time in three days. He'll be further evaluated in the coming days to determine the severity of the issue. In the meantime, Joey Wendle is starting at the hot corner Monday, with Brandon Lowe picking up a start at the keystone.

Rays' Matt Duffy: Heads to bench for series opener
Duffy is not in the lineup Monday against the Indians, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Duffy has started six of the team's eight games in September, slashing a solid .308/.400/.385 with seven RBI over that stretch. He'll head to the bench for Monday's series opener against Corey Kluber and the Indians, with Joey Wendle sliding over to cover third base and Brandon Lowe picking up a start at the keystone.

Rafael Devers 1B | SF
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Sitting versus lefty
Devers is out of the lineup Sunday against the Astros, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.
The Red Sox will hold out most of their key lefty bats versus Astros southpaw Dallas Keuchel, as Devers will be joined on the bench by Mitch Moreland and Jackie Bradley. Brandon Phillips will check in at third base in Devers' stead.

Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Hitting leadoff again
Moncada went 1-for-4 with a double in Saturday's 12-3 loss to the Angels.
After hitting out of the lower third of the order for the last 16 games, Moncada was the leadoff hitter for a second straight game Saturday. He was originally moved out of the top spot as a way to take the pressure of the young second baseman, who leads MLB with 193 strikeouts, but his time in the lower third of the order only slightly improved his strikeout rate. It looks like manager Rick Renteria will live with Moncada's struggles in the leadoff spot. Moncada is 31 strikeouts shy of establishing a new single-season record.

Alex Bregman 3B | CHC
Astros' Alex Bregman: Launches fifth homer of month
Bregman went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo homer in Saturday's win over the Red Sox.
Bregman's torrid September continued Saturday, as the third baseman launched his fifth home run of the month in just his seventh game. He's hitting an impressive .480/.567/1.280 with 11 RBI and a 3:5 K:BB over that stretch, bringing his season slash line to .299/.401/.563. He also has 30 homers, 97 RBI and 10 stolen bases.

Matt Duffy 3B | TEX
Rays' Matt Duffy: Not starting Saturday
Duffy will hit the bench Saturday against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Duffy sits after starting 13 of the Rays' last 14 games. He hit a solid .321 over that stretch, though he went hitless in the last two contests. Joey Wendle will slide over to third base in his absence, with Brandon Lowe starting at second.

Matt Chapman 3B | SF
Athletics' Matt Chapman: Two more RBI in win
Chapman went 1-for-5 with a two-run single in a win over the Rangers on Friday.
He laced a timely second-inning single to extend the Athletics' lead to 5-0. Chapman is working on a five-game hitting streak in which he's knocked in five runs. The infielder continues to complement his elite defense with one of the best offensive seasons on the team, as he's slashing an impressive .281/.363/.521 with 63 extra-base hits (35 doubles, six triples, 22 home runs) and 58 RBI.

Jeimer Candelario 3B | LAA
Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Plays hero in win over Cards
Candelario went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and a second run scored in Friday's 5-3 win over the Cardinals.
His 18th home run of the year was a big one, as Candelario launched a walkoff shot in the ninth inning against Jordan Hicks. The 24-year-old has put together back-to-back games with three hits and a home run, but he's also struck out twice in both of those performances, and a 27.4 percent strikeout rate is a big reason why Candelario's stuck with a .238/.308/.400 slash line in 33 games since the beginning of August.

Rafael Devers 1B | SF
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Starting Saturday
Devers will start at third base Saturday against the Astros, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.
Devers no longer holds claim on the everyday third base job for Boston. He and Eduardo Nunez, who started Friday and will start Sunday, are splitting the position for now. Devers entered Friday's game as a pinch hitter and struck out with two men on base.

Jean Segura 3B | CLE
Mariners' Jean Segura: Added to Friday's lineup
Segura was added to Friday's lineup at shortstop, TJ Cotterill of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Segura was initially left out of Friday's starting nine due to an illness he was dealing with in the morning, but he appears to have markedly improved over the past few hours and will play during the series opener versus the Yankees. Ben Gamel will no longer start and Dee Gordon will man center field.
