Hayes has five multi-hit efforts over his last seven games, going 13-for-29 (.448) in that span. He's produced one home run, five RBI and a stolen base in that span. The third baseman has been steady this season, batting .276 with a .771 OPS, 14 homers, 60 RBI, 59 runs scored and 10 stolen bases through 116 contests overall. With his three-hit effort Wednesday, he now has a career-high 126 hits for the season.

Triolo went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 13-7 win over the Cubs.
Triolo has gone 6-for-23 (.261) over eight games since he was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Sept. 6. This was his first game with an RBI in that span. The infielder is slashing .271/.350/.340 with two homers, 18 RBI, 21 runs scored and four stolen bases through 163 plate appearances this season. He doesn't have an everyday role, but he can provide cover around the infield for the Pirates.

Brewers' Josh Donaldson: Blasts homer in win
Donaldson went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Cardinals.
Donaldson set the tone early with a first-inning blast, and that was all the Brewers would need for the win. He's gone 7-for-32 (.219) with two homers, seven RBI and four runs scored through nine games with Milwaukee since joining the big club Sept. 11. For the season, the veteran third baseman has a .159/.248/.442 slash line with 12 homers, 22 RBI, 17 runs scored and no stolen bases through 43 contests between the Brewers and Yankees.

Marlins' Jake Burger: Dealing with quad tightness
Burger left Wednesday's game against the Mets early due to right quad tightness, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Burger was pulled after making an error on a throw home during the third inning. No details regarding the severity of Burger's injury were provided, but with an extra day between games for Miami, there's a chance Burger returns without missing any time.

Marlins' Jake Burger: Exits with injury
Burger was removed from Wednesday's game against the Mets with an apparent injury, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Burger had to be taken out of the game after making an error throwing to the plate in the third inning. The Marlins will take a look at him and should provide more details shortly, but Burger seemed to be grabbing at his quad as he left the field. He should be viewed as day-to-day for now.

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Takes seat Wednesday
Arenado is not in the lineup Wednesday versus the Brewers.
Juniel Querecuto will start at third base and bat eighth for the Cardinals after they were officially eliminated from postseason contention following Tuesday's loss to Milwaukee. Arenado is slashing just .181/.233/.205 over his last 90 plate appearances dating back to Aug. 25.

Mets' Brett Baty: Back in lineup Wednesday
Baty (groin) is back in the lineup Wednesday at Miami.
Baty will start at third base and bat seventh versus the Marlins and right-hander Eury Perez after missing nearly a full week of action because of a mild left groin strain. Ronny Mauricio is covering second base for the Mets on Wednesday as Jeff McNeil patrols left field.

Padres' Manny Machado: Returns to lineup
Machado (elbow) is in the designated hitter spot and batting fourth versus the Rockies on Wednesday in his return to action, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Machado has been out of the lineup a few times this month and has been limited to DH duty when he does play because of a nagging elbow issue which will likely require surgery eventually. He'll gut it out for this one, though.

Hayes went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 14-1 loss to the Cubs.
The third baseman spoiled Chicago's shutout bid by taking Javier Assad deep in the third inning. Hayes is wrapping up a big second-half breakout, and since coming off the IL in early August, he's slashing .309/.349/.562 through 40 games with nine of his 14 homers on the season -- a power pace supported by his 93rd percentile average exit velocity, 89th percentile hard-hit rate and career-best 13.1 degree launch angle and 39 percent flyball rate in 2023.

Giants' J.D. Davis: Sitting Tuesday
Davis isn't in the Giants' lineup Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
After going 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored Sunday against Colorado, Davis will get a breather for Tuesday's series opener with Arizona. Wilmer Flores will take over at third base and bat third while Davis rests.
