  • J.D. Davis 1B | LAA

Giants' J.D. Davis: Delivers off bench

Davis (ankle) went 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBI in Saturday's 15-0 win over the Dodgers.

Davis didn't start due as he continues to manage an ankle sprain, but he replaced Joc Pederson as the designated hitter when he entered. Davis' first contribution was a grand slam in the sixth inning, and he added an RBI single for the Giants' last run. It's too early to say the 30-year-old is over the ankle sprain, but it doesn't look like he's too far away from a return. The big game puts him at 10 homers, 40 RBI, 30 runs scored and a stolen base while slashing .291/.372/.493 over 64 contests. Davis has gone 5-for-13 (.385) over his last four games.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Swipes base in win

Machado went 1-for-4 with one RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Rays.

Machado drove in the Padres' second run with a single, then stole second base. The third baseman hasn't made a huge impact on the basepaths, as this was just his third steal in four attempts this season. He's had trouble getting on base, as evidenced by a .291 on-base percentage and 5.7 percent walk rate, limiting his chances to run, as Saturday's theft was his first since April 29. The 30-year-old is hitting .248 with eight home runs, 26 RBI and 27 runs scored over 54 contests in a down year.

Giants' J.D. Davis: Available off bench Saturday

Davis (ankle) will not be in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers, but he will be available off the bench to hit, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Davis will miss another game while dealing with his ankle sprain, but he told reporters that he's also available as a pinch hitter, if necessary. The infielder doesn't believe he'll need a trip to the injured list, though he isn't expected to return to the lineup until after the weekend series concludes versus Los Angeles.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Marlins' Jean Segura: Lands on injured list

The Marlins placed Segura on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left hamstring strain, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Segura sat out Friday's game against the Nationals and will now be forced to sit out another 10 days as a result of his injury. Jacob Amaya was called up from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move and figures to see a fair share of infield opportunities during Segura's absence.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Tough road trip

Hayes went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base Friday against the Brewers.

Hayes delivered a two-RBI single in the seventh inning and then proceeded to steal third base for his eighth swiped bag of the campaign. He's struggled across the last week of action, collecting only four hits across 24 at-bats while striking out 10 times. Overall, Hayes' results remain mediocre, though his .144 ISO is the highest mark in any of his full seasons in the majors.

  • Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA

Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Not starting Saturday

Madrigal isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Saturday's game against Baltimore.

Madrigal is 5-for-15 with two RBI over his last five games, and he will get a day to rest Saturday. While Madrigal sits out, Miles Mastrobuoni will take over at third base and bat ninth.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Lands on IL

The Cubs placed Wisdom on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a sprained right wrist, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Wisdom has been struggling at the plate recently, going just 2-for-24 since the beginning of June. Now, he will be shelved for at least 10 days as he nurses his right wrist. Justin Steele (forearm) was activated off the 15-day injured list Saturday and will replace Wisdom on the active roster.

  • Michael Busch 3B | CHC

Dodgers' Michael Busch: Recalled from Triple-A

Busch was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.

Busch was recalled to take the place of Max Muncy, who was placed on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring strain. In 19 at-bats with the Dodgers earlier in the year, Busch slashed .211/.348/.211 with four walks and nine strikeouts over seven games. The 25-year-old is considered one of the better prospects in the Los Angeles system, but it's not yet clear what role he'll have during this big-league stint.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Placed on injured list

The Dodgers placed Muncy (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Friday.

Muncy will miss at least a week after suffering a hamstring strain during last Sunday's game versus the Phillies. The Dodgers called up Michael Busch from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take Muncy's spot on the 26-man active roster, but Chris Taylor may get the first crack at replacing Muncy as Los Angeles' everyday third baseman.

  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Gets breather Friday

De La Cruz isn't in the Reds' lineup Friday against the Astros, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

After taking the majors by storm with a hot start to his MLB career, De La Cruz has cooled off as of late with just a .470 OPS over the last seven days. He'll get a day off Friday to regroup while Nick Senzel covers third base, Spencer Steer moves to left field and Kevin Newman starts at first.
