  • Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI

Cardinals' Edmundo Sosa: Placed on COVID-19 list

The Cardinals placed Sosa on the COVID-19-related injury list Tuesday.

St. Louis didn't specify a reason for Sosa's placement on the IL, which follows the pattern teams have frequently used when they send players to the COVID-19 IL. The Cardinals haven't revealed whether Sosa tested positive for the virus, making it unclear when he might be ready to return to the active roster. Juan Yepez was recalled from Triple-A Memphis as a replacement on the roster for Sosa.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Keeps slugging Monday

Riley went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 5-2 win over the Mets.

He got Atlanta on the board in the fourth inning, taking a Chris Bassitt slider deep to left-center field to begin a comeback from a 2-0 deficit. Riley is in one of his grooves as five of his seven homers on the season have come in the last nine games, a stretch during which he's slashing .297/.350/.784.

  • J.D. Davis 1B | LAA

Mets' J.D. Davis: Returns to lineup

Davis (foot) will bat sixth and play third base Monday against Atlanta.

Davis starts for the first time since Wednesday's game against the Cardinals after getting hit in the foot by a pitch in that contest. However, there's no guarantee his absence was entirely injury-related, as he hasn't been an everyday player this season. He'll make his eighth start of the season Monday, pushing Eduardo Escobar to the designated hitter spot.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Marlins' Brian Anderson: Socks first homer of season

Anderson went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Mariners.

He got the Marlins on the board by taking Logan Gilbert deep in the sixth inning, but they were already in a 5-0 hole at that point. Anderson has been getting consistent playing time lately, splitting his time between third base and the outfield corners, and while the 28-year-old has hit safely in five straight games, his power production has been lackluster. In 63 plate appearances this season, Anderson is slashing .269/.397/.423 with just one home run and two RBI, although he has added 10 runs and a steal.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Knocks sixth homer

Arenado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 7-5 win over the Diamondbacks.

Arenado served his one-game suspension Saturday and was right back to mashing Sunday. His seventh-inning homer gave the Cardinals their only multi-run lead of the game. He's hit safely in his last five contests, going 8-for-17 (.471) in that span. The third baseman has registered a .368/.435/.697 slash line with six long balls, 18 RBI, 12 runs scored and seven doubles through 85 plate appearances.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Hits key home run

Wisdom went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Brewers.

Marcus Stroman and Corbin Burnes were locked in a scoreless pitchers' duel through four innings, but Wisdom got the Cubs on the board with a solo shot against Burnes in the top of the fifth. The third baseman now has four home runs across 21 games this season. Wisdom had 28 long balls in 106 games during a breakout 2021 campaign, and he looks to be on his way to another good season in the power department.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: First day off

Muncy is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Muncy has a .586 OPS for the season and is in a 2-for-24 slump over the past seven games, and he'll head to the bench Sunday for the first time in 2022. Justin Turner will serve as the designated hitter while Hanser Alberto starts at the hot corner.

  • Jason Vosler 3B | SEA

Giants' Jason Vosler: Pops second homer

Vosler went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 9-3 win over the Nationals.

Getting the start at third base and hitting eighth, Vosler went yard for the second straight day as he launched a solo shot off Erasmo Ramirez in the sixth inning. Vosler is making a solid case to at least work the strong side of a platoon at the hot corner, slashing .292/.379/.583 in eight games since his promotion with two homers and five RBI.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Drives in two more

McMahon went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI on Saturday against the Reds.

McMahon drove in the game-winning runs for the Rockies in the sixth inning with a two-RBI triple. He now has a four-game hitting streak and at least one hit in six of his last seven starts. McMahon has been particularly productive to start the first two contests of Colorado's homestand, homering once while driving in five.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Back from suspension

Arenado (suspension) will start at third base and bat cleanup Sunday versus Arizona, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Arenado had the two-game suspension reduced to one contest on appeal and served the ban Saturday. He'll rejoin the lineup for Sunday's series finale while in the midst of a modest four-game hit streak, during which he's gone 7-for-13 with two doubles, three walks, three RBI and one run.
