Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI
Cardinals' Edmundo Sosa: Remains sidelined
Sosa (wrist) remains on the bench as expected Sunday against the Reds, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Sosa hasn't played since Wednesday while battling wrist pain, though he's yet to be placed on the injured list and took grounders on the field Sunday without a brace, so he could be back in the lineup soon. Paul DeJong will remain the primary shortstop until Sosa is ready to return.

Manny Machado 3B | SD
Padres' Manny Machado: Three hits in loss
Machado went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs, an RBI and a stolen base in a 5-4 loss to the Dodgers on Saturday.
Machado singled and scored in the fourth inning, doubled in the sixth, and singled, stole second and scored in the eighth. The three-hit game was Machado's first since July 30 while the theft was Machado's second of the month. The All-Star third baseman now has 12 steals on the year and could easily eclipse the 14 he had his 2018.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Clinches win with clutch homer
Arenado went 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple, two total runs and three total RBI in Saturday's 6-4 victory versus Cincinnati.
The veteran third baseman entered the contest having gone hitless in three straight contests, but he turned things around in a big way Saturday. Arenado pulled St. Louis to within a run with a sixth-inning RBI triple, and he subsequently scored to tie the game 4-4. His biggest contribution of the game came two innings later, when Arenado smoked a two-run homer to left field to plate the game-winning runs. The long ball was Arenado's 30th of the campaign, and he has now reached that mark in six straight campaigns, not including last season's abbreviated 60-game slate.

Jean Segura 3B | CLE
Phillies' Jean Segura: Homers in Saturday's win
Segura went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 6-1 win over Colorado.
The infielder padded Philadelphia's lead with his fifth-inning homer. Segura has homered four times in his last 16 games to bring his total to 12 this season. He's been more of a contact hitter with a .297/.358/.445 slash line, 50 RBI, 68 runs scored and nine stolen bases across 492 plate appearances. He's added three triples and 24 doubles in 114 contests.

Giants' Evan Longoria: Drives in three more against Cubs
Longoria went 2-for-3 with a single, a double, a walk, a run scored and three RBI in Saturday's 15-4 win over the Cubs. He also chipped in a sacrifice fly.
One day after knocking in three runs against the Cubs, Longoria did it again, only this time without the help of the long ball. The 35-year-old has now pushed across nine runs in his last four games.

Kevin Newman 3B | LAA
Pirates' Kevin Newman: Day off Saturday
Newman isn't starting Saturday's game against the Nationals.
Newman recorded hits in each of his last four games and went 5-for-14 with a home run and three RBI during that time. Cole Tucker will shift to shortstop while Hoy Park draws the start at second base.

Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI
Cardinals' Edmundo Sosa: Still limited
Sosa (wrist) is not in Saturday's lineup against the Reds and doesn't seem likely to return in the next couple days, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
He will make his first attempts at swinging a bat, but Jones notes that Sosa's availability is still very limited. Paul DeJong will continue to start at shortstop while Sosa is out.

Max Muncy 3B | LAD
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Goes deep in victory
Muncy went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 3-0 win over San Diego.
The All-Star first baseman provided all the offense the Dodgers would need in the contest with a two-run blast to right field in the third inning. The long ball was his second in three games, and he has gone 4-for-12 with three RBI over that stretch. Muncy's 32 homers on the season are tied with Pete Alonso for third in the National League.

Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN
Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Walks off Friday
Hayes went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI in Friday's 4-3 win over Washington.
The rookie has strung together a six-game hit streak during which he's gone 10-for-24 with two stolen bases. His opposite-field, ninth-inning single Friday marked the first time he's come through with a walkoff hit in the majors. Hayes has also scored five runs in six games since moving to the leadoff spot. His overall slash line of .258/.325/.377 isn't particularly impressive, but his recent performance gives hope that he'll continue to improve as he distances himself from a wrist injury that forced him to the 60-day IL earlier in 2021.

Evan Longoria 3B | ARI
Giants' Evan Longoria: Drives in three in win
Longoria went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a sacrifice fly in Friday's 6-1 win over the Cubs.
The third baseman gave San Francisco its first lead of the game with his seventh-inning blast. He added insurance in the eighth with the sac fly, giving him his second consecutive multi-RBI game. He's gone 4-for-15 across seven games since returning from a hand injury Sept. 3. For the year, Longoria is slashing .287/.386/.527 with 11 home runs, 37 RBI, 38 runs scored and a stolen base in 220 plate appearances.
