  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Busts out with three hits and RBI

Riley finished 3-for-6 with three RBI and a run scored Wednesday in Atlanta's 20-2 win over the Mets.

Riley has been in a bit of a power drought of late with only one home run and two doubles over his final 16 games of June, but he at least closed the month on a four-game hitting streak while lifting his average to .279 on the season. The 24-year-old managed a .232 average over his first two years in the majors, so he's been one of the more pleasant surprises in that category in 2021. Riley's .271 expected batting average suggests he shouldn't be in line for major regression as the season unfolds.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Dealing with multiple injuries

Wisdom is managing right neck tightness and a left eye contusion after he exited Wednesday's loss to the Brewers in the second inning, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Initial tests indicate that Wisdom has avoided a concussion after he collied with Tyrone Taylor during a play at first base, but the infielder will still have to manage the eye and neck issues in coming days. He can be considered day-to-day for the time being, with a further update likely coming from the Cubs later Wednesday or early Thursday.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Slays Giants again

Muncy went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 3-1 victory over San Francisco.

Muncy accounted for the Dodgers' final run of the contest with a 404-foot solo shot to center field in the third inning. The homer was his second of the two-game series against the division-rival Giants and his seventh in nine games against them this season. Muncy is tied for third in MLB with 52 walks and ranks second with a .418 OBP.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Exits after collison

Wisdom went 2-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored before exiting in the second inning of Wednesday's game against the Brewers after being involved in a collision at first base, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Wisdom, who was drawing the start at first base in place of the injured Anthony Rizzo (back), was pulled off the bag and into the running path of Brewers outfielder Tyrone Taylor on an errant throw from Jake Arrieta. In the collision with Taylor, Wisdom appeared to absorb the brunt of the damage, as he was on the ground for several moments before getting up under his own power. The Cubs will presumably put Wisdom through concussion tests and additional medical evaluations before providing an update on his condition.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Suarez isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Suarez struck out in each of his four at-bats Tuesday, and he'll get a breather in Wednesday's matchup. Alejo Lopez will start at third base and bat fifth.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Blasts 16th homer

Arenado went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Arizona.

The veteran third baseman broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning with a two-run shot to left field. The long ball was his team-leading 16th of the season, putting him one ahead of Tyler O'Neill. Arenado has gone deep four times in his past 10 games. Over that stretch, he is complementing the homer total by batting .303 with four doubles, eight RBI and a 6:3 BB:K.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Marlins' Brian Anderson: Ramping up baseball activities

Anderson (shoulder) has been participating in defensive drills and taking soft toss, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

This is the first word of the third baseman taking swings since landing on the injured list with a left shoulder subluxation in late May. Anderson won't be eligible to come off the 60-day IL until July 27, but he could potentially go on a rehab assignment earlier in July.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Cubs' Matt Duffy: Shifts to 60-day injured list

Duffy (back) was transferred to the 60-day injured list, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.

The move clears space on the 40-man roster for the Cubs to select Adam Morgan's contract. It doesn't look as though it will significantly impact Duffy's return date. He was previously thought to be on track to return around the All-Star break and will now be ineligible to come back before July 22, which may not wind up representing much more than a brief delay.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Activated from IL

The Phillies will activate Segura (groin) from the 10-day injured list before Tuesday's game against the Marlins, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

As expected, Segura will return for Tuesday's series opener after missing nearly two weeks with a Grade 1 strain to his left groin. The infielder was on an absolute tear before the injury, hitting .373 with four doubles, a triple and eight RBI in his last 12 games. Now that he's healthy once again, Segura figures to slot in as Philadelphia's everyday second baseman, relegating Brad Miller to a backup role. The Phillies have yet to announce a corresponding roster move.

  • Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI

Cardinals' Edmundo Sosa: Productive in return

Sosa (leg) went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs in a win over the Diamondbacks on Monday.

The valued utility player was given the weekend off after exiting Friday's game early with cramps, and the downtime apparently did him some good. The multi-hit effort was Sosa's first since June 14, while the two-bagger marked the 25-year-old's first extra-base hit since he launched his first career home run against the Reds on June 4.
