Phillies' Jean Segura: Suffers hamstring cramp

Segura, who left Thursday's game in the sixth inning, suffered a left hamstring cramp and will be sent for more tests, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Thiis could end up just being a minor cramp with Segura being day-to-day, but additional tests could also reveal something serious enough to end his season. He suffered the injury running to first base on an RBI single. Scott Kingery would be the most logical fill-in shortstop.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Exits with hamstring injury

Segura left Thursday's game against the Braves in the top of the sixth inning after suffering an apparent left hamstring injury while running to first base after hitting an RBI single, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

He walked off gingerly and it remains to be seen if he will be able to return this season. Segura went 1-for-3 before exiting. Scott Kingery could get the starts at shortstop if Segura misses further time.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Heads to bench Thursday

Machado is not in Thursday's lineup against the Brewers.

There's no getting around the fact that this has been an underwhelming first full year in the National League for Machado. He is hitting .140 in September and .253/.332/.456 with 30 home runs and five steals in 148 games. His 106 wRC+ is his second-worst mark over the past six years, trailing only the 101 wRC+ he posted in 2017. Seth Mejias-Brean is starting at third base and hitting sixth.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Braves' Josh Donaldson: Rare day off Thursday

Donaldson is not in Thursday's lineup against the Phillies.

He is hitting .245/.379/.491 with four home runs and a 15:12 K:BB in 53 at-bats this month. Donaldson has been a steady presence this season, as he has not started a game on the bench since May and has played in 149 games thus far. Austin Riley will start at third base and hit sixth.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Reds' Kyle Farmer: Activated from injured list

The Reds activated Farmer (oblique) from the injured list Wednesday.

Farmer had been out over two weeks with his oblique injury, but he is ready to resume playing for the Reds. Farmer is not in the lineup Wednesday, but he could see a pinch-hit opportunity against a left-hander. Farmer could also log a start or two against a lefty the rest of the way, given his .876 OPS against southpaws this season.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Longoria is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, according to Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News.

Longoria reached base five times in Tuesday's series opener, but manager Bruce Bochy decided it was time for a day off and withheld Longoria from the starting lineup. Cristhian Adames will man the hot corner for the Giants on Wednesday night.

  • J.D. Davis 1B | LAA

Mets' J.D. Davis: Sits again Wednesday

Davis sits for the second game in a row Wednesday against the Rockies.

Davis remains on the bench despite slashing .350/.381/.500 in the month of September. Jeff McNeil starts in left field, with Todd Frazier at the hot corner.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Reaches base five times

Longoria went 2-for-4 with three walks and a run scored in Tuesday's 15-inning win over the Red Sox.

Longoria was an on-base machine for the Giants in this one, raising his on-base percentage to .329, the best we've seen from the slugger since 2013. The 33-year-old will likely never return to the numbers we saw during his days in Tampa Bay, but 2019 has been a respectable bounceback campaign with a .260/.329/.448 slash line through 120 games.

  • J.D. Davis 1B | LAA

Mets' J.D. Davis: Retreats to bench

Davis isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Rockies, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Davis crashed into the outfield fence during Monday's contest, and even though he was able to remain in the game, he's dealing with some soreness Tuesday. Per Healey, Davis is expected to be OK and will be available off the bench in the second game of the series.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Swats 34th homer

Rendon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Cardinals.

His sixth-inning shot tied the score at 2-2, but the Nats couldn't muster any more offense after that. Rendon is slashing .321/.438/.604 through 15 games in September as he tries to keep his team in the wild-card picture, and on the season he's hitting .333 with 34 homers and 119 RBI -- all career highs -- as he steams towards a huge payday in free agency.
