  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Not starting against southpaw

Muncy isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Friday's game against the Mets.

With southpaw Sean Manaea on the mound for the Mets, Muncy will retreat to the bench to begin Friday's contest. Miguel Rojas will take his spot at the hot corner and bat eighth.

  • Joseph Ortiz 3B | MIL

Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Not in Friday's lineup

Ortiz is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.

It's the second straight game on the bench for Ortiz, who started the previous three contests. Oliver Dunn will step in at third base for Milwaukee as the pair continue to split playing time at the hot corner.

  • Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Recalled from Triple-A

Monasterio was recalled from Triple-A Nashville by the Brewers on Friday.

Monasterio was hitless in seven at-bats earlier this season with the Brewers and went 5-for-12 during his time at Nashville. He will provide Milwaukee with infield depth.

  • Zack Short 3B | ATL

Mets' Zack Short: One walk, one run in win

Short went 0-for-3 with one run and one walk in the 9-1 win over the Pirates on Wednesday.

With Brett Baty out due to a hamstring injury, Short got just his second start since April. The utility infielder's defensive versatility earned him a 26-man roster spot, and he's at least not a liability as a runner in the event he's able to get on base. Don't expect the 28-year-old to see much more than a spot start on occasion unless multiple members of the Mets' infield pick up injuries.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | PIT

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Back in action Friday

Hayes (back) is starting at third base and batting third Friday against the Red Sox.

The 27-year-old sat out the past two games with lower-back tightness but is ready to rejoin Pittsburgh's starting nine after Thursday's scheduled off day. Hayes struggled offensively in the five games preceding the absence, going 3-for-17 with two doubles, five walks and six strikeouts.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | CHW

Nationals' Nick Senzel: Out of Friday's lineup

Senzel is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus Houston.

Senzel started the past three games after being reinstated from the injured list Monday and will receive a day off after going 2-for-11 with a walk and three strikeouts. Ildemaro Vargas will man the hot corner and bat ninth Friday.

  • Reds' Jeimer Candelario: Held out again Friday

Candelario (illness) remains out of the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Angels.

There's a bug going around the Reds' clubhouse, as Christian Encarnacion-Strand will also miss a second straight game. Santiago Espinal will be at third base Friday.

  • Patrick Wisdom 1B | CHC

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Getting start in right field

Wisdom will start in right field and bat second in Friday's game against the Marlins.

Fresh off the injured list, the right-handed hitting Wisdom will be thrown right into the mix against left-hander A.J. Puk. Most of the 32-year-old's playing time figures to come against southpaws. Wisdom has a career .813 OPS versus lefties.

  • Patrick Wisdom 1B | CHC

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Back from IL

The Cubs activated Wisdom (back) from the 10-day injured list Thursday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Wisdom went to the injured list just before Opening Day and was able to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa on April 6. During the assignment, the 32-year-old appeared in nine games and went 11-for-27 with three home runs across 36 plate appearances. Miles Mastrobuoni was optioned to Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move.

  • Reds' Jeimer Candelario: Not ready to start Wednesday

Candelario (illness) remains out of the lineup Wednesday in Seattle.

He'll give way to Santiago Espinal at third base for a second game in a row while he recovers from an illness. The Reds are off Thursday, so Candelario will have some additional time to shake off the ailment before Cincinnati opens its homestand Friday versus the Angels.
