Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Homers, drives in two against Giants

Suarez homered as part of a 2-for-4 game with two runs scored and two RBI in Monday's win over San Francisco.

Suarez is hitting a ridiculous .375/.423/.708 with two homers, two doubles and four RBI over his past seven games. With 17 home runs, he now ranks 12th among qualified third basemen in homers, but unfortunately, power has been his only bright spot this season. His batting line sits at an underwhelming .234/.301/.414.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Clubs 26th home run

Arenado went 1-for-4 against Baltimore on Monday, launching his 26th home run of the season.

The third baseman now has three homers in the last four days, and he's second in that category only to teammate Trevor Story among National Leaguers. His 77 RBI also have him alone at the top of the NL leaderboard. Arenado has hit safely in all but one game since the All-Star break, and there's no reason to think he won't continue to produce through the end of the season.

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Gets day off Sunday

Suarez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

Reds manager Bryan Price will give the afternoon off to both of the team's regular members from the left side of the infield, as everyday shortstop Zack Cozart joins Suarez on the pine. Both Cozart and Suarez had started each game since the All-Star break, so Sunday's day off will function as a welcome rest period as well as an opportunity for Price to work in some of the club's reserves. Ivan De Jesus will cover third base in Suarez's stead.

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Hits lead-changing home run versus Braves

Arenado went 2-for-4 with a triple and a two-run homer in Friday's win over the Braves.

The third baseman, coming off a scheduled rest day Thursday, belted his 24th homer to give the Rockies a 2-1 lead that they'd never relinquish. Arenado hasn't been at his best this month, hitting just .242 with two home runs, six RBI and six runs through 62 at-bats in July. In years past, Arenado has been a better second-half hitter, so owners can relax and associate this month with small slump.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Diamondbacks' Jean Segura: Blasts eighth homer of 2016 on Friday

Segura went 2-for-3 with a solo homer Friday at the Reds.

Segura's eighth bomb of 2016 led off the game for the Diamondbacks in a losing effort. He's now hit safely in 12 of 15 July games, and he's slashing .314/.359/.451 on the season.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Giants' Matt Duffy: Will begin rehab assignment next week

Duffy (achilles) is making progress and is a week away from beginning a rehab assignment, Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports.

If all goes well in his rehab assignment, Duffy appears likely to return at some point in early-August. In his absence, Ramiro Pena and Connor Gillaspie have been manning the hot corner for the Giants.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Not in lineup Thursday

Arenado is out of the lineup for Thursday's matchup with Atlanta, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Arenado will get his first maintenance day since June 12 as Cristhian Adames takes his place at third and bats eighth. Arenado has cooled off in July, going 15-for-62 (.242) with just six runs and RBI apiece this month. He'll likely be back out there Friday as the Rockies face Jon Gray and the Braves.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Diamondbacks' Jean Segura: Collects three hits Wednesday

Segura went 3-for-4 with a run in Wednesday's loss to the Blue Jays.

After a solid first half of the season, Segura is right back at it after the All-Star break. In five games since the break, the 26-year-old is 7-for-22 with four runs, one home run and a stolen base. For the season, he is now slashing .311/.356/.441.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Bashes homer in return to lineup

Rendon went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in his return to the lineup from illness Wednesday against the Dodgers.

He's actually homered in consecutive games with the illness in between. Rendon's had an up and down first four seasons to this point -- the 2011 No. 6 overall pick looked like a star in 2014, but hasn't come close to that level before or since. He's been solid this season, particularly if you count out his brutal month of April, but fantasy owners are looking for more and he'll try to provide it in the second half.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Back in the lineup Wednesday

Rendon (illness) is back in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers.

He'll start at third base and hit sixth in his return after missing a pair of games due to a bout with the flu. After a slow start to the season, Rendon has pushed his season line to a palatable .255/.341/.412 (.753 OPS) over 90 games in 2016.
