Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Returns to lineup Saturday

LeMahieu (knee) is back in the lineup Saturday, batting second and playing second base against the Dodgers.

After a five-game absence due to a left knee contusion, LeMahieu will draw back into the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers. His return is a huge boon for the Rockies, as the second baseman will likely avoid a stint on the DL, provided his knee issue is behind him. He'll bat second in the order Saturday against Dodgers lefty Scott Kazmir.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Out of lineup Saturday

Rendon is out of the lineup for Saturday's duel with Cincinnati, Chase Hughes of CSNMA reports.

Rendon, who started the Nats' last 12 games, will begin Saturday's game on the bench as Stephen Drew fills in for him at third base. After batting just over .200 through the first month of the season, the 26-year-old has turned things around, slashing .287/.374/.473 over his last 47 games.

Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Out of lineup again Friday

LeMahieu (knee) remains out of the lineup Friday against the Dodgers, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.

Make it five straight absences for LeMahieu, who continues to nurse a left knee contusion he suffered last weekend. However, LeMahieu's ability to pinch hit Tuesday would seem to suggest he's safe from the DL for the time being. Daniel Descalso continues to fill in at second base with Cristhian Adames (starting for Trevor Story) in the two-hole.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Braves' Jace Peterson: Out of lineup Friday

Peterson is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Miami.

Peterson, who's made 11 consecutive starts, will get the night off as Chase d'Arnaud makes a start at second base. Peterson currently has an 11-game hit streak going and is slashing .348/.375/.522 during that time.

  • Cody Asche 3B | NYM

Phillies' Cody Asche: Drives in three runs Wednesday

Asche went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI Wednesday at the Diamondbacks.

Asche capped off a four-run eighth inning with a sacrifice fly that gave the Phillies a temporary lead in a game they'd eventually win in extra innings. He's now collected an extra-base hit in six of his last eight games to raise his slugging percentage to .482.

Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Out of Wednesday's lineup

LeMahieu is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Blue Jays, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Although he'd hoped to play in Wednesday's game, LeMahieu's return has been postponed. However, with Colorado having Thursday off, he may return to action for Friday's contest against the Dodgers.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Delivers RBI triple Tuesday

Rendon went 2-for-4 with an RBI triple Tuesday against the Mets.

Rendon's second-inning triple off starter Matt Harvey got the scoring started in what ended up being a one-sided 5-0 affair. He's having a very productive series with four hits and four RBI through two games, and gets another crack at the Mets on Wednesday.

Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Remains out Tuesday

LeMahieu (knee) remains out of the lineup Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

This makes it two straight absences for LeMahieu after he suffered a left knee contusion in Sunday's game. Cristian Adames will start at second base Tuesday. According to Thomas Harding of MLB.com, LeMahieu reported improvement with the knee Tuesday and thinks he will be able to play in Wednesday's series finale.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Delivers superb all-around performance against Mets

Rendon went 2-for-4 with two runs, three RBI and a steal in a superb all-around performance Monday against the Mets.

Rendon was far from the only Washington player to find success in this one, with four other Nationals registering multi-hit games as well. The third baseman also swiped his second bag of the month, and is a threat to top 15 in both home runs and steals for the second time in his career, with seven and eight, respectively, at the moment.

  • Carlos Asuaje 3B | LAD

Padres' Carlos Asuaje: Big day in Triple-A Doubleheader

Asuaje notched three hits in a doubleheader Sunday for Triple-A El Paso. He also stole a base and scored three runs.

Asuaje has been hitting quite well in Triple-A this season, slashing .325/.389/.470 in the notoriously hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. Asuaje doesn't figure to be much help in power categories, as he has a meager four home runs in 2016 and 28 for his entire minor league career. Despite the nice season, it will likely take an injury or a trade for Asuaje to be called up to the majors in 2016.
