Vargas was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Vargas has already been designated for assignment three previous times this season. He cleared waivers the first time after getting dropped from the Cubs' 40-man roster in late March but was picked up by the Pirates after the Cubs DFA'd him again in mid-May. He lasted less than two weeks in Pittsburgh before being DFA'd yet again and traded to the Diamondbacks. It seems that teams like him enough to keep him around for a few weeks on the end of their bench, so it's possible he'll get claimed yet again this time around. The move clears a spot for the Diamondbacks to add the newly-signed Jake Faria.

Moustakas (heel) was moved to the 60-day injured list Saturday.

Moustakas has already been out for a month with a heel injury. He appeared to be closing in on a return before suffering a setback during a rehab game Tuesday. He'll now be out until just after the All-Star break at the earliest, with the Reds yet to provide a concrete timeline. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the team to select Josh Osich's contract.

Donaldson (calf) remains sidelined Saturday against the Rangers.

Calf issues are unfortunately nothing new for the veteran third baseman. His latest such problem popped up Wednesday against the Mariners, causing him to exit in the first inning. He'll sit for the second straight game, with Luis Arraez taking over at the hot corner.

Ramirez (foot) will not start Saturday's game against the Pirates, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Ramirez left Friday's game after getting struck in the foot by a pitch. It's not yet clear how much time he's expected to miss, but he'll sit for at least one contest, with Yu Chang taking over at the hot corner.

Astudillo was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Astudillo hadn't been receiving regular opportunities for the Twins, as his start at third base Friday against the Rangers was his first in 10 days. He was sent down to make way for the return of Byron Buxton (hip), though he'll likely be one of the first few names called upon if the team needs another bat in the future.

Sosa (hand) went 1-for-3 and was caught stealing on his one attempt in a loss to Atlanta on Friday.

The utility asset was back in the lineup after a one-game absence and managed one of only three hits for the Cardinals on the night. Sosa has now hit safely in three of the last four games and continues to be pleasant surprise at the plate, as evidenced by his .267 average and .358 on-base percentage across 120 plate appearances.

Devers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-3 loss to Kansas City.

The third baseman took Kansas City reliever Scott Barlow deep to center field in the eighth inning. In his last seven games, Devers has gone 11-for-29 (.379) with two homers, eight RBI and seven runs scored. The 24-year-old is slashing .283/.348/.574 with 17 homers, 56 RBI, 47 runs scored and three stolen bases across 279 plate appearances overall.

LeMahieu went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Athletics.

LeMahieu had lackluster results at the plate to begin the season, but he blasted his fifth home run of the year Friday and has now recorded four extra-base hits across the last seven games. During that time, he's gone 10-for-30 with two homers, two doubles, six RBI and four runs.

Ramirez was diagnosed with a left foot contusion after leaving Friday's game against the Pirates, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Ramirez immediately limped off the field after he was hit by a pitch in the top of the eighth inning. Prior to his departure, he went 0-for-2 with a run, a walk and a strikeout. If the 28-year-old misses any additional time, Yu Chang and Ernie Clement could see increased at-bats.

Ramirez left Friday's game against the Pirates in the top of the eighth inning with an apparent foot injury, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Ramirez was hit by a pitch on his foot to lead off the eighth inning Friday, and he immediately limped off the field. The nature and severity of the injury aren't yet known, and whether the third baseman misses additional time remains to be seen.
