Donaldson (calf) took part in machine cardio and fielded groundballs Monday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Donaldson is slowing ramping up his baseball activities, making it through Monday's workout without any issues. He also continues to take batting practice and take cuts in the cage, per Helfand. The Twins have yet to disclose a concrete timetable for the third baseman's return, however.

Madrigal (shoulder) has resumed most baseball activities and remains on track to return before the end of the month, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Madrigal lasted just five games into his debut season before separating his left shoulder in early August. He continues making good progress, though his precise timeline remains unclear. Danny Mendick has been the primary second baseman in his absence.

Sosa (illness) was cleared to resume baseball activities Monday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Sosa was sidelined since early August after testing positive for COVID-19, but he'll now report to the team's alternate training site in Springfield to get back into game shape. It's unclear how much time he'll need before he's ready to return to the active roster, but he should serve as infield depth once he's back in the majors.

LeMahieu is expected to miss two or three weeks with his sprained left thumb, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

LeMahieu dealt with a similar injury back in 2018 and wound up being out for a similar time frame. The given timetable should see him back in action sometime right around the start of September. Tyler Wade will be the second baseman in his absence Monday against Boston.

Urshela isn't in the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox.

Urshela tallied hits and scored in each of the first three games of the team's series against Boston, but he'll take a seat for the final game Monday. Thairo Estrada will draw the start at the hot corner.

The Tigers selected Paredes' contract from their alternate training site Monday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Detroit called up three of their top prospects Monday, with starting pitchers Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize also making the jump from the alternate site. Skubal is slated to start Tuesday's game against the White Sox while Mize is scheduled to pitch Wednesday, so Paredes should be the first of the trio to debut, as general manager Al Avila said he expects the 21-year-old to be included in the lineup for Monday's series opener, per Chris McCosky of The Detroit News. Paredes is expected to see most of his action at third base or shortstop, where Willi Castro and Niko Goodrum, respectively, have been serving as Detroit's top options. Since Goodrum is day-to-day with a back injury, Castro could temporarily slide over to shortstop to open up reps at the hot corner for Paredes, who slashed .282/.368/.416 with 13 home runs, five stolen bases and a 57:61 BB:K over 552 plate appearances at Double-A Erie last season.

Senzel and all other Reds on the 28-man roster tested negative for COVID-19 on Sunday, making it likely the team will be able to return to action Tuesday in Kansas City, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

The Reds had the final two games of their weekend series versus the Pirates postponed after a Cincinnati player was revealed to have tested positive for the coronavirus Friday. Senzel was widely speculated to be the player in question after the team pulled him from the victory line following Friday's 8-1 win, but he now looks to be in the clear with the entire roster having since tested negative. The center fielder previously missed three games in July after self-reporting possible symptoms of the coronavirus, though he never actually tested positive.

Toro was added to Sunday's lineup as the designated hitter after Yordan Alvarez (knee) was scratched. He went 0-for-3 with a run scored in a 3-2 win over the Mariners.

Toro has been an infrequent contributor for the Astros and would likely share the DH role with others if Alvarez misses significant time. Houston manager Dusty Baker was hopeful Alvarez can return to the lineup Monday against the Rockies, Richard Justice of MLB.com reports. Toro is slashing .148/.258/.296 over 31 plate appearances.

Escobar went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer in Sunday's 5-4 win over San Diego.

Escobar's three-run shot in the eighth inning proved to be the go-ahead hit in Sunday's contest. It was just the second extra-base hit of August for the 31-year-old. He's slashing .197/.282/.303 in 85 plate appearances.

McMahon went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Sunday against the Rangers.

McMahon took Kolby Allard deep in the second inning to jumpstart the Rockies offense. It was his third home run of the season and second in his last four starts. All three of his long balls have come at home this season, and he has reached base in just seven of 33 plate appearances on the road. He and the Rockies will be away from Coors Field for five of seven contests in the upcoming week.
