  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Mariners' Patrick Wisdom: Removed from 40-man roster

Wisdom was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Monday.

Wisdom began the season at the Mariners' alternate training site, but he'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster to make room for right-hander Brady Lail, who was claimed off waivers by Seattle on Monday. Wisdom has been effective in the minors but carries a .224/.306/.408 slash line with four home runs, 11 RBI and 34 strikeouts over 41 major-league games with the Cardinals and Rangers.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Goes yard again

Chapman went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a solo home run in a win over the Astros on Sunday.

Chapman has been busy making up for lost time after opening up August in a 4-for-26 funk. He subsequently went 6-for-14 with two doubles, two homers, four RBI and three runs in the three-game weekend set against the Astros, boosting his average 50 points to .246 in the process. A key has been simply making more consistent contact, as Chapman struck out on only three occasions against Houston after whiffing 10 times over the first six contests of the month.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Clocks two homers

Machado went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in Sunday's 9-5 win over Arizona.

Machado was all over Arizona starter Madison Bumgarner on Sunday, taking him deep in the first and second innings. The 28-year-old third baseman is slashing .213/.314/.443 with 11 runs scored in 70 plate appearances.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Slugs second homer

Devers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday against the Blue Jays.

Devers had plenty of opportunity for production, coming to bat with runners on first and third and one out in the third inning, but he failed to produce. He made up for that in his next at-bat, driving a Matt Shoemaker offering out to the deepest part of Fenway Park for his second home run of the season. Production hasn't come easily to Devers through 62 plate appearances, as he's hitting just .175/.252/.351. The lack of success has led to Devers expanding the zone -- the young third baseman has a 42.4 chase percentage, per Statcast.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Expected back Tuesday

Reds manager David Bell said Senzel (groin) checked out fine during a workout Sunday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Bell expects Senzel to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Royals.

Though Senzel will be on the bench for a second straight day in Sunday's series finale in Milwaukee after tweaking his left groin in Friday's opener, the injury doesn't appear to be a major concern. Travis Jankowski will pick up a start in center field in his stead, but Senzel may still be available to pinch hit.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Reds' Kyle Farmer: Sitting out series finale

Farmer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Farmer will retreat to the bench after making three consecutive starts in the middle infield, allowing Christian Colon and Freddy Galvis to pick up starts at the keystone and shortstop, respectively. With Mike Moustakas (quadriceps) moving to the 10-day injured list Sunday, Farmer looks like he could be in store for more regular action at second base, which could make him worthy of a pickup in NL-only leagues.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Escobar: Not starting Sunday

Escobar is out of the lineup Sunday at San Diego.

Escobar will receive his first day off of the season after starting the first 15 games and posting a .488 OPS with two extra-base hits in 60 plate appearances. Andy Young will start at the hot corner in the series finale for Arizona.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Day off Sunday

Arenado is not in the lineup Sunday against the Mariners.

The 29-year-old is 0-for-13 with one walk over the past three games and will receive a day to reset Sunday. Overall this season, Arenado has a .185/.262/.352 slash line with three homers in 61 plate appearances. Chris Owings will take over at third base for the Rockies in the series finale.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Reds' Mike Moustakas: Lands on injured list

Moustakas (quadriceps) was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, retroactive to Aug. 6.

The Reds previously hoped the 31-year-old would be able to return to action Tuesday, but he apparently requires additional time to recover from the left quad bruise. Moustakas will be eligible to be activated Aug. 16 against the Pirates. Kyle Farmer and Christian Colon should continue to fill in at the keystone for Cincinnati.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Not starting Game 1

Riley is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader in Philadelpha.

Riley will head to the bench for the second time in the past three games, but he may rejoin the lineup for Game 2. Johan Camargo will start at the hot corner in the matinee.
