Taylor Walls 3B | TB
Rays' Taylor Walls: Activated from 60-day IL
The Rays activated Walls (hip) from the 60-day injured list Friday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Walls has been out all season following offseason hip surgery and had his recovery delayed due to inflammation in the hip. However, he recently got back up to speed during a five-game rehab stint with Triple-A Durham, going 8-for-21 at the plate. Walls could take some playing time away from Jose Caballero at shortstop while working in a utility role.

Brett Baty 3B | NYM
Mets' Brett Baty: Will serve as 27th man
Baty will be recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to serve as the 27th man during this weekend's series in London versus the Phillies, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Baty was optioned to Syracuse a week ago following a slow start but has gone 3-for-10 with two home runs in his first two games back in the minors. He will likely operate in a reserve role for the two games in London before being sent back down early next week. Baty also revealed that the plan is for him to get some game reps at second base when he goes back to Syracuse, per Puma.

Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE
Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Homers in loss
Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a walk in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Royals.
Ramirez entered Thursday with no homers over his last five games, matching his longest drought since he went eight contests from April 26 to May 4 without a long ball. The third baseman upped his power in late May and is now at 17 homers this season, with eight of them coming since May 17. He's added a stellar .276/.335/.552 slash line with 60 RBI, 47 runs scored, nine stolen bases, 13 doubles and one triple over 60 contests.

Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN
Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Lifts fifth homer
Suarez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Padres.
The homer was Suarez's second hit over six games in June, though both knocks have gone for extra bases. The third baseman hasn't hit for average well in the last five years, but his .202 mark this season is poor even by his usual standard. He's added a .592 OPS, five homers, 28 RBI, 24 runs scored and two stolen bases through 62 contests.

Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA
Angels' Anthony Rendon: Considers himself ahead of schedule
Rendon (hamstring) resumed baseball activities this week and said Wednesday that he thinks he's ahead of schedule in progressing toward a return, per MLB.com.
Rendon has been out since April 20 due to a left hamstring strain, but he recently began ramping up his activity by throwing and taking swings in a batting cage. The third baseman will next progress to jogging Saturday, which will be a significant test of the injured hamstring. While Rendon remains weeks away from a return, he indicated that he considers himself ahead of schedule, explaining, "I'm trying to push it each and every day. Let my body tell me that it's painful, it hurts or it's not ready. So we'll get back as soon as possible."

Christopher Morel 1B | MIA
Cubs' Christopher Morel: Blasts 12th home run
Morel went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Reds.
Morel can be streaky with his power production, but he appears to be locked in right now, as he has two home runs across his last three games and three in his last seven contests. The surge has pushed him up to 12 long balls for the season. Morel popped 26 home runs last year, and he certainly could reach or surpass that figure in 2024 if he stays healthy.

Rafael Devers 3B | SF
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Gets rest during blowout
Devers was replaced by a pinch hitter during the seventh inning of Thursday's game against the White Sox, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
Devers exited with the Red Sox up 11-0 to get some extra rest, and he went 1-for-4 with a run scored prior to hitting the bench. He now has a six-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 8-for-23 with three homers, six RBI and seven runs scored.

Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA
Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Fractures hand at Triple-A
Madrigal suffered a fractured left hand when he was hit by a pitch during a game with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Tommy Birch of The Des Moines Register reports. Iowa placed him on its 7-day injured list Thursday.
Madrigal was playing in his first game with Iowa after being optioned to the affiliate earlier this week. It's not clear at this juncture how much time he might miss, but he certainly he won't be an option to return to action at Iowa for several weeks.

Christopher Morel 1B | MIA
Cubs' Christopher Morel: In Thursday's lineup
Morel (foot) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Thursday against the Reds.
Morel was taken out of Wednesday's game after fouling a ball off his left foot, but he appears to be feeling well enough to return to the Cubs' lineup without a day off. The 24-year-old has posted just a .203 batting average so far this season, but he has been heating up recently, going 6-for-19 with two homers, three RBI and six runs scored across his last six games.

DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Day off amid power outage
LeMahieu is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Twins.
LeMahieu has now started seven of nine games since his return from the injured list but has gone just 4-for-22 with no extra-base hits during that stretch. Oswaldo Cabrera will get the call at third base for the Yankees on Thursday.
