  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Yankees' Jon Berti: Exits with injury

Berti was removed from Friday's game against the Padres with an apparent leg injury, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Berti collapsed to the ground running out of the batter's box and was in visible pain after hitting a groundball to second base in the ninth inning. Athletic trainers immediately began tending to his lower left leg -- near his Achilles tendon -- and the 34-year-old infielder couldn't put any weight on his left leg as he was helped off the field. The Yankees will presumably take Berti in for imaging, and it's very possible he requires a trip to the injured list.

  • Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Sitting out Friday

Cabrera is not in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Padres.

Cabrera will take a seat Friday after starting each of the last three games, as Jon Berti gets the nod at third base against Padres right-hander Yu Darvish. Cabrera is slashing .256/.298/.349 with one home run and four RBI in May.

  • Brett Harris 3B | ATH

Athletics' Brett Harris: Heads back to Triple-A

The Athletics optioned Harris to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Harris came up from the minors May 3 in hopes of landing a starting job at third base for the A's, but he will now return to Las Vegas after slashing .116/.291/.326 through 55 plate appearances to begin his MLB career. The 25-year-old infielder was finding consistent success in Triple-A before getting called up, and it's still possible he enjoys another stint with the big-league club if his bat returns to form with the Aviators. Miguel Andujar (knee) was activated off the injured list Friday to take Harris' roster spot.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Likely to return Monday

Atlanta manager Brian Snitker noted Friday that Riley (side) is likely to remain out until Monday's series opener against the Nationals, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Riley has been sidelined due to a left intercostal strain he sustained May 12 against the Mets. Despite the length of his absence, Atlanta did not place the 27-year-old third baseman on the 10-day IL in hopes he could return sooner, but Riley appears on track to rejoin the lineup following a weekend series against the Pirates. Prior to his injury, Riley was slashing .245/.319/.388 with eight doubles, three home runs and 18 RBI over 163 plate appearances.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: On bench Friday

Hernandez is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Reds.

Hernandez will take a seat after making six consecutive appearances. Miguel Rojas will man third base and bat ninth.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Beginning rehab assignment

Lewis (quadriceps) had a successful workout Friday and will report to Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday to begin a rehab assignment, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Lewis has been sidelined since he suffered a right quadriceps strain Opening Day, but he's now in the final stages of his rehab program. The 24-year-old will likely need at least a handful of games in the minors before rejoining the Twins.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Mariners' Josh Rojas: Idle against southpaw

Rojas is not in the lineup for Friday's game against Washington.

With Seattle facing southpaw MacKenzie Gore, Rojas will take a seat. Dylan Moore will start at third base and bat second.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Tigers' Gio Urshela: Missing from lineup Friday

Urshela is not in the lineup for Friday's game against Toronto.

The veteran third baseman will get a breather as Matt Vierling gets the start at the hot corner and bats fifth. Urshela has gone 4-for-18 in his last five games and is slashing .256/.282/.305 on the year.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Idle against southpaw

McMahon isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies.

The lefty-hitting McMahon will avoid a matchup with lefty Cristopher Sanchez on Friday. Alan Trejo will start at third base and bat ninth. McMahon has homered in three of his last four games and has scored a run in eight straight outings.

  • Luis Urias 2B | ATH

Mariners' Luis Urias: Optioned down Friday

Urias was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

With Seattle deciding to bring back outfielder Jonatan Clase, Urias will lose his spot in the majors. The 26-year-old third baseman has a slash line of .152/.264/.316 with 12 RBI on the season.
