  • Michael Busch 3B | CHC

Cubs' Michael Busch: Takes seat Tuesday

Busch is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Busch is 2-for-13 with three walks and a run through the first four games of the season, and he'll head to the bench for Tuesday's contest. Garrett Cooper will receive a start at first base, batting seventh.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Out six weeks after wrist surgery

Rangers general manager Chris Young said that Jung will be sidelined for six weeks after having surgery Tuesday to repair his fractured right wrist, Stefan Stevenson of SI FanNation reports.

Jung suffered the injury on a hit-by-pitch Monday and the surgery was performed by the same doctor who repaired his fractured thumb last August. Josh Smith received the first start at third base in Jung's place Tuesday, but Ezequiel Duran and Justin Foscue will also be in the mix at the hot corner.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Urias is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Urias will take a seat Tuesday for the second time in Baltimore's first five games of the season. Jordan Westburg will receive another look at third base while Tony Kemp starts at the keystone.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Placed on IL with fractured wrist

Jung was placed on the 10-day injured list by the Rangers on Tuesday with a fractured right wrist, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.

Jung suffered the unfortunate injury when he was hit by a pitch in Monday's game against the Rays. There is no timetable for the 26-year-old's return at this point, but he will certainly be on the shelf for several weeks. Josh Smith is getting the first shot to fill in at third base for Jung on Tuesday, but Ezequiel Duran and Justin Foscue will also be in the mix.

  • Marlins' Emmanuel Rivera: Scooped up by Miami

The Marlins acquired Rivera from the Diamondbacks on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations.

Rivera will be a candidate for some playing time at designated hitter and at third base on days Jake Burger plays first or is the DH. The 27-year-old is a career .247/.304/.380 hitter over parts of three major-league seasons. Jacob Amaya was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Jacob Reimer 3B | NYM

Mets' Jacob Reimer: Out with pulled hammy

Reimer is on the 60-day injured list with High-A Brooklyn due to a pulled hamstring, Sam Dykstra of MLB.com reports.

Reimer logged high on-base percentages as a 19-year-old at Single-A and High-A last season, but he only hit seven home runs with three steals in 100 games. He is expected back in early June, per Dykstra.

  • Oswald Peraza 3B | LAA

Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Will begin throwing Wednesday

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on the Talkin' Yanks podcast Tuesday that Peraza (shoulder) will begin throwing Wednesday.

Peraza is working his way back from a subscapularis strain in his right shoulder, but Boone expressed optimism Tuesday that it wouldn't take the infielder long to get ramped back up. With Oswaldo Cabrera off to a hot start, Jon Berti now around and DJ LeMahieu (foot) likely to beat Peraza back from the injured list, the latter could be sent to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre once he's healthy.

  • Austin Shenton 1B | SEA

Rays' Austin Shenton: Draws first MLB start

Shenton went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts and a walk Monday against the Rangers.

Shenton made his first major-league start, playing first base and hitting eighth after appearing as a pinch hitter Sunday. He posted a 1.035 OPS across 271 plate appearances with Triple-A Durham in 2023, though that came at the elevated age of 25. Shenton could be an intriguing option if he can get more consistent at-bats, though it appears the Rays will have to suffer several injuries for that to occur.

  • Curtis Mead 3B | WAS

Rays' Curtis Mead: First start against righty

Mead went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored Monday against the Rangers.

Mead had been in the lineup once through the Rays' first four games, which came against lefty Yusei Kikuchi. He got a chance at third base Monday against Dane Dunning, filling in for Isaac Paredes at third base, but he is still likely to see his playing time primarily come against southpaws.

  • Tyler Freeman 3B | COL

Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Swats first long ball

Freeman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Monday in a loss to the Mariners.

Freeman brought the Guardians to within two runs with his sixth-inning solo blast, but his team ultimately fell short. The long ball was the first of the campaign for the 24-year-old, who never hit more than six homers over a season in the minors. Freeman is better known for his speed and bat-to-ball ability, and he's attempting to use that skill set to hold down a near-everyday role in center field after playing mostly in the infield as a minor-leaguer.
