  • Zach McKinstry 3B | DET

Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Swats late homer

McKinstry went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 17-4 loss to the Astros.

McKinstry hit a ninth-inning home run off Ryne Stanek for his eighth long ball of the season and first since July 22. He's now reached safely in eight straight games and 11 of his last 12 while splitting time between second base, third base and shortstop. The 28-year-old is now slashing .239/.310/.359 with 27 extra-base hits, 30 RBI, 49 runs, 15 steals and a 37:88 BB:K in 421 plate appearances, which smashes his previous career-high of 185 plate appearances in 2022.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Homers, steals base in win

Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and one steal in Sunday's 10-7 win over the Blue Jays.

Ramirez's two-run homer in the third was the 21st for the five-time All-Star. He entered the game in a 4-for-31 slump, but he's showing signs of breaking out of it, as he's now homered in back-to-back contests. Ramirez is the lynchpin for the Guardians offense and will look to finish the season on a high note. He's now slashing .279/.353/.489 in 487 at-bats.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Slugs grand slam

Lewis went 1-for-6 with a grand slam in Sunday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Rangers.

Lewis put the Twins on the comeback trail with his sixth-inning slam to cut the deficit to 5-4. He's gone 7-for-25 (.280) with three homers and seven RBI over his last six games. The infielder is at a .312/.358/.500 slash line with seven homers, 24 RBI, 18 runs scored and two stolen bases over 37 contests this season. He's been a regular since returning from an oblique injury Aug. 15, primarily seeing time at third base and designated hitter.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Perfect at plate Sunday

Moncada went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and one run scored in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Athletics.

Moncada has gone 12-for-32 (.375) with five extra-base hits and eight RBI over his last nine contests. His two-run double in the seventh inning generated the final runs of the game. The third baseman is at a .246/.288/.381 slash line with five home runs, one stolen base, 28 RBI, 24 runs scored and 16 doubles over 67 games this season.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: X-rays come back negative

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said after Sunday's 7-4 loss to the Dodgers that X-rays on Devers' right wrist returned negative, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Devers was held out of the lineup Sunday after he was hit in the wrist by a pitch late in Saturday's 8-5 win, and he was sent in for X-rays for what appears to be mostly cautionary purposes. As anticipated, the X-rays revealed no structural damage to Devers' wrist, and Cora is hopeful that the star third baseman will return to the lineup for Monday's series opener versus the Astros.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Blue Jays' Matt Chapman: Exits with finger injury

Chapman was removed in the bottom of the sixth inning of Sunday's game against the Guardians due to an inflamed right middle finger. He went 0-for-1 with a walk prior to being lifted for a pinch hitter.

As Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star notes, the injury is to the same finger that Chapman pinched two weeks ago during an accident in the weight room. He ended up missing three straight games due to the injury before returning to the lineup Friday and starting in each of the last nine contests while going 5-for-32 with three walks against 14 strikeouts. The likes of Cavan Biggio, Santiago Espinal and Davis Schneider could all be in store for added opportunities in the Toronto infield during the upcoming week if either Chapman or Bo Bichette (quadricep) misses time due to the injury he sustained Sunday.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jace Peterson: Moves to bench Sunday

Peterson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

The lefty-hitting Peterson regularly sits out against southpaws, but he'll head to the bench Sunday even though right-hander Graham Ashcraft is on the hill for Cincinnati. Evan Longoria will pick up a start at third base in place of Peterson, who is slashing .178/.288/.267 in 20 games with Arizona since being acquired from Oakland on July 31.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Twins' Kyle Farmer: Filling in for resting Julien

Farmer will start at third base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Rangers.

Farmer will pick up a start against Texas lefty Jordan Montgomery while the lefty-hitting Edouard Julien exits the lineup. Though he's posted an .840 OPS since the All-Star break, Farmer's opportunities are likely to be limited mostly to facing left-handed pitching while the Minnesota infield is at close to full strength.

  • Jonah Bride 3B | TEX

Athletics' Jonah Bride: Back to bench Sunday

Bride is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Bride is on the bench Sunday after starting in each of the previous five games while going 3-for-15 with a double, two walks, an RBI and three runs. The last three of his starts came at third base, where he could be emerging as the Athletics' preferred option. Jordan Diaz gets the starting nod at the hot corner Sunday, but he enters the contest in a 2-for-29 funk at the plate over his last 10 games.

  • Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA

Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Retreats to bench

Madrigal is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Madrigal had started each of the past four contests, going 5-for-14 with a run and an RBI while extending his hitting streak to six games. Unless he's used off the bench Sunday, the streak will be put on hold, but Madrigal appears to be moving into the everyday spot in the lineup that had belonged to Christopher Morel. The slumping Morel will be riding pine along with Madrigal on Sunday, marking Morel's fourth benching in the past five contests.
