Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Returns with two homers
Donaldson went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Friday's loss to the Dodgers.
Donaldson welcomed himself back with his first multi-homer game since 2021. The third baseman has played in just six games due to a hamstring injury, but he is expected to be an everyday player. In every season that he has played at least 100 games, Donaldson has hit 20 or more homers. Having already missed 53 games, he might not reach those numbers, but his power stroke should help fantasy managers when he is in the lineup.

Gunnar Henderson 3B | BAL
Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Pops sixth homer
Henderson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's victory over the Giants.
Henderson is slugging .386, as he has not provided the expected pop with his bat in 2023. Despite the lack of power and a .203 batting average, his OPS sits at a respectable .716 thanks to 29 walks in 132 plate appearances. Once the 21-year-old finds his power, he could take off for fantasy managers and the Orioles.

Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Goes deep Friday
McMahon went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's win over Kansas City.
McMahon got the game started with a solo shot in the first frame. He's been red hot lately and not just at Coors Field, posting six multi-hit performances in his last nine games with the last five coming on the road. During that stretch, he's gone 17-for-34 (.500) with five homers and 14 RBI. McMahon is now slashing .260/.339/.490 with 27 extra-base hits through 230 plate appearances.

DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Gets Friday off
LeMahieu is not in the starting lineup for Friday's contest against the Dodgers.
LeMahieu will grab a seat on the bench to open the three-game series against the Dodgers. With Giancarlo Stanton, Anthony Rizzo and Josh Donaldson back in the lineup, it's likely LeMahieu will see his playing time limited some against right-handed pitching, but that will at least be partially determined by how well Donaldson plays in the coming weeks.

Manny Machado 3B | SD
Padres' Manny Machado: Reinstated from IL, starting Friday
Machado (hand) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and he will start at third base and bat fourth Friday versus the Cubs, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Machado will return to the lineup after missing over two weeks with fracture in his left hand. The 30-year-old has struggled from the plate this season, slashing .231/.282/.372 over 156 at-bats with the Padres, all of which represent career lows. With San Diego's lineup now fully healthy, Machado will look to take advantage of batting cleanup behind Xander Bogaerts, Fernando Tatis and Juan Soto.

Jake Burger 3B | TEX
White Sox's Jake Burger: Out of lineup Friday
Burger isn't starting Friday against the Tigers.
After homering in a pinch-hit opportunity Wednesday, Burger is absent from the lineup for the second straight game. Gavin Sheets will take over as Chicago's designated hitter and bat eighth.
-
Maikel Garcia 3B | KC
Royals' Maikel Garcia: Gets breather Friday
Garcia is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Rockies.
Garcia will have a seat after going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in the series finale with the Cardinals on Tuesday. Nicky Lopez will draw the start at the hot corner and bat eighth versus Colorado on Friday.

Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI
Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Sitting Friday
Sosa isn't starting Friday against the Nationals, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Sosa has recorded just one hit -- a home run Wednesday -- over his last six games and will take a seat to start Friday's contest. Drew Ellis will take Sosa's spot at third base and bat ninth.

Jace Peterson SS | ARI
Athletics' Jace Peterson: Absent from lineup
Peterson is not in the lineup for Friday's tilt against the Marlins.
Peterson has now been on the bench two of the last three games, and the one time he did see his name on the lineup card was against a lefty, which is a little odd. The Athletics are going with Tony Kemp at second base and Jonah Bride at third Friday.

Manny Machado 3B | SD
Padres' Manny Machado: Friday return possible
Padres manager Bob Melvin said Thursday that Machado (hand) could return from the injured list Friday, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
"Might be (Friday)," Melvin said. "I can't confirm that." The skipper's caginess aside, Machado does seem like a good bet to return Friday as long as he checks out well pregame. He's upped his activity level over the last several days with no apparent issues and doesn't appear to be in need of a rehab assignment. The star third baseman has been sidelined since mid-May with a small fracture in his left hand.
