  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

White Sox's Omar Narvaez: Sits out Sunday

Narvaez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Orioles.

Narvaez was behind the plate for the first two games of the series, but he'll take a seat in favor of Geovany Soto for Sunday afternoon's finale.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Early exit Saturday

Perez left Saturday's game after taking a foul ball off his left forearm, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio Kansas City reports.

The incident occurred in the eighth inning, and Drew Butera replaced Perez behind the plate in the ninth. Perez went 1-for-3 prior to exiting the game. It would make sense if the Royals scheduled an X-ray to determine the full extent of the injury.

  • Red Sox's Christian Vazquez: Takes seat Saturday

Vazquez is out of the lineup Saturday against the Twins, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.

Vazquez has started the last three games and is 1-for-14 over the past week, yet still has a solid .333 average on the season. He gives way to Sandy Leon behind the plate in what appears to be a routine day off.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

White Sox's Omar Narvaez: Two hits in Friday's loss

Narvaez went 2-for-4 with a run in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Orioles.

Narvaez (14 games) and Geovany Soto (12 games) have been splitting the catching duties fairly evenly. Narvaez is the lesser-known commodity, but has managed to handle major-league pitching (.264 career average) since being called up in 2016 despite only 188 at-bats above High-A. There's not a lot of power to his bat, but Narvaez is hitting a serviceable .279 in 43 at-bats this season.

  • Mariners' Tuffy Gosewisch: Recalled from Triple-A

Gosewisch was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

Gosewisch hasn't been particularly great for Tacoma, where he owns a .240/.339/.320 batting line over 17 games, but Mike Zunino's struggles were getting to be too much for Mariners brass to handle. The former Diamondbacks catcher will hold down the backup spot until Zunino proves he's ready to handle the show once again. Expect Carlos Ruiz to get most of the starts at catcher over Gosewisch.

  • Yan Gomes C | CHC

Indians' Yan Gomes: Heads to bench Friday

Gomes is not in the lineup Friday against the Royals, 610 Sports Radio KC reports.

Despite coming off consecutive multi-hit games, Gomes will head to the bench as Roberto Perez gets the start behind the dish. Gomes' recent efforts at the plate have brought his slash line to a slightly more respectable .224/.318/.328 through 20 games this season.

  • Yankees' Kyle Higashioka: Sent down to Triple-A

Higashioka was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Higashioka simply wasn't getting it done during his brief first stint in the majors, as he was unable to record a single hit in 20 plate appearances. The Yankees will likely want to see some noticeable improvement at the plate at the minor-league level in order for him to have a chance at rejoining the big-league team later on this season.

  • Gary Sanchez DH | MIL

Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Back in lineup Friday

Sanchez (biceps) is in the Yankees' lineup behind the plate and batting third against the Cubs on Friday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Sanchez hasn't officially been activated from the disabled list, but the Yankees penciled him in as Friday's starter. As long as he makes it through pregame workouts, he'll be good to go, and Kyle Higashioka will be demoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to make roster space, Jack Curry of YES Network reports. Sanchez returns for his first regular-season action since April 8, when he sustained the biceps strain. Fantasy players should throw him back into their lineups as well.

  • Angels' Martin Maldonado: Takes seat Thursday

Maldonado is not in the lineup Thursday against the Mariners.

Maldonado will take a seat after starting each of the last five games, while Juan Graterol will get the start behind the plate in his stead.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Rangers' Jose Trevino: Placed on inactive list

Trevino was placed on the temporary inactive list Thursday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Trevino was slashing .314/.375/.392 through 14 games with Double-A Frisco this season before landing on the inactive list. It's unclear when he'll be back with the team, though it will at least be a three-game absence.
