McCann is in Tuesday's lineup against the Indians.

McCann was activated off the disabled list earlier in the day, but it wasn't clear yet at the time if he'd been joining the lineup immediately. He'll handle the catching duties Tuesday and bat seventh against Cleveland starter Josh Tomlin.

McCann (ankle) was officially activated from the disabled list Tuesday.

As expected, McCann will rejoin the Tigers on Tuesday, but it's unclear at this point if he'll be available for the evening's matchup with Cleveland. Jarrod Saltalamacchia has served as Detroit's primary catcher with McCann on the DL, and the two could end up splitting duties, assuming Salatalmacchia, who has six home runs in 60 at-bats, regresses to the mean as a power source.

Nicholas went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in a win against the Blue Jays on Monday.

Nicholas has fared reasonably well in part-time duty in Texas this season. The 27-year-old rookie is hitting .258 with two home runs and four RBI in 31 at-bats while splitting time with Brian Holaday behind the plate.

Perez is out of the lineup Monday against the Brewers, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports.

Perez will take a seat for the second day in a row after beginning the season with a .148/.207/.167 slash line. In limited opportunities, backup catcher Geovany Soto has a 1.038 OPS, so if things don't change soon, Perez may be relegated to the bench more frequently.

Moore's contract was purchased from Triple-A Columbus on Sunday, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports.

The Tribe placed Roberto Perez on the DL in a corresponding move after the catcher fractured his right thumb in Saturday's game against the Phillies. Though he's now back in the majors, don't look for Moore to receive more than one or two starts per week behind regular starting catcher Yan Gomes.

Perez was placed on the disabled list Sunday with a fractured right thumb, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports.

Perez, the backup catcher to Yan Gomes, received the start in Saturday's game against the Phillies and injured his finger when he made a diving play at the plate in the fifth inning. It's uncertain how long of a recovery timetable Perez will face due to the injury, but it seems likely he'll miss beyond the 15-day minimum. With Perez on the DL, Adam Moore will be recalled from Triple-A Columbus to provide some catching depth.

Perez isn't in the lineup Sunday against the Rangers, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Perez's offensive slide continued Saturday, as he went 0-for-4 with a strikeout to drop his season average to .148. Backup catcher Geovany Soto went 2-for-4 and hit his second homer of the season on Friday night, so he'll be given the opportunity to make his second start in three games. If Soto continues to sport a hot bat, he could end up displacing Perez as the team's primary backstop.

Casali is out of the lineup Sunday against the Blue Jays, Roger Mooney of The Tampa Tribune reports.

Casali started the first two games of the series, so he'll unsurprisingly be rested for Sunday's matinee. Hank Conger will fill in behind the plate in Casali's stead.

McCann (ankle) will catch two more games with Triple-A Toledo before rejoining the team Tuesday, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia has six home runs in 59 plate appearances, but his 39-percent strikeout rate is foreboding, and McCann could wrestle away a good chunk of playing time if Saltalamacchia regresses as expected. A career .259 hitter, McCann likely won't do much damage in that department, but he also won't help much with counting stats.

Perez is out of the lineup Friday against the Rangers, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports.

Perez went 2-for-10 with two RBIs in the Angels' three-game series against the Royals earlier in the week. He will now get the night off as veteran Geovany Soto moves into the lineup on Friday against right-hander Colby Lewis and the Rangers.
