  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Clubs homer in loss

O'Hoppe went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 6-2 extra-inning loss to the Dodgers.

O'Hoppe opened the scoring in the second inning with a solo shot off Walker Buehler. Over the previous nine games, O'Hoppe went just 1-for-30 with a 1:18 BB:K. The catcher has put together a good year with 18 homers, 51 RBI, 53 runs scored, two stolen bases and a .242/.300/.409 slash line over 118 contests, but it's possible he's wearing down under a heavy workload in his first full and healthy major-league campaign.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: X-rays negative on hand

Manager Aaron Boone said Wells, who is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Rangers, had X-rays on his hand come back negative, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

The 25-year-old is dealing with some soreness after being hit by a pitch in Monday's contest, but it appears he's avoided a serious injury. The Yankees have a team day off Thursday, so the club could keep Wells on the bench again Wednesday to provide him three straight days to recover from the injury.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Taking seat Tuesday

Heim is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.

Heim and Carson Kelly have alternated starts behind the plate over the past seven games, and that trend will continue Tuesday after Heim went 0-for-4 with an RBI and two strikeouts in Monday's contest.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Exits starting nine

Wells is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Rangers.

With southpaw Andrew Heaney on the hill for Texas, Wells will grab a seat. Jose Trevino is doing the catching for the Yankees.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Wong is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Mets.

Wong had started each of the last four games, although one of those starts came at second base. It will be Danny Jansen doing the catching for the Red Sox on Tuesday.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Slugs 28th homer Monday

Raleigh went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Athletics on Monday.

Raleigh squared up an Osvaldo Bido four-seam fastball in the first inning with J.P. Crawford aboard, giving the Mariners an early 2-0 lead via a 386-foot shot to right field. The power-hitting backstop snapped a 12-game homerless drought in the process, not to mention an 0-for-18 skid that had encompassed the previous four games. Raleigh now sits just three home runs away from surpassing the career-high 30 he belted in 2023, while his total of 82 RBI is already a new personal best.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Homers twice in win

Langeliers went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Monday's 5-4 win over the Mariners.

Langeliers gave the Athletics a 4-3 lead on a three-run homer in the third inning and then played hero with a walk-off blast in the bottom of the ninth. The 26-year-old has three multi-hit efforts with four extra-base hits and six RBI over his past five contests. On the season, he trails only Cal Raleigh (28) at the catcher position with 25 long balls and is hitting .223 with 68 RBI, 50 runs scored and four steals across 454 plate appearances.

  • Astros' Victor Caratini: On bench for second straight

Caratini is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.

Caratini had seen an uptick in playing time lately while the Astros continue to rotate a number of different players at first base, but he'll hit the bench for a second straight matchup against a right-handed pitcher. The lefty-hitting Jon Singleton has started at first base in both of those games and looks to be the Astros' preferred option for now, though he doesn't have much job security.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Resting up Monday

Jeffers is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays.

The Twins continue to employ a near-even split of the catching duties between Jeffers and Christian Vazquez. After Jeffers caught all nine innings of Sunday's 4-3 win over the Blue Jays, Vazquez will get a turn behind the plate in Monday's series opener.

  • White Sox's Chuckie Robinson: Retreats to bench Monday

Robinson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.

After filling in behind the plate for a resting Korey Lee in Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Mets, Robinson will return to his usual bench role for the series opener in Baltimore. Since getting called up from Triple-A Charlotte on July 19 to replace Martin Maldonado as the White Sox's No. 2 catcher, Robinson has picked up just 12 starts while batting .152 with no extra-base hits.
