  • Jake Rogers C | DET

Tigers' Jake Rogers: Out of Sunday's lineup

Rogers is not in the lineup for Sunday's game at Minnesota.

Rogers has a .961 OPS across 25 at-bats in June and will take a seat Sunday after starting three of the previous four games. Eric Haase will work behind the plate in the series finale versus the Twins.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Delivers winning run

Heim went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-2 win over Toronto.

Heim hit the second of back-to-back home runs in the second inning, and his run was the game-winning score. The young catcher burnished his All-Star resume with his eighth home run and 48th RBI. MLB.com released the All-Star Ballot standings last week, and Heim was second among catchers behind the Orioles' Adley Rutschman.

  • Carlos Perez C | HOU

Athletics' Carlos Perez: Three-hit day in loss

Perez went 3-for-5 with an RBI double, a solo home run and an additional run scored during an extra-innings loss to the Phillies on Saturday.

The reserve backstop made good use of one of his intermittent starting opportunities, recording the first run of the game on his 397-foot shot to left center in the fifth and then tying the contest at 2-2 in the 11th with his timely two-bagger. The highly productive night snapped an 0-for-23 skid that had encompassed Perez's last eight games and gave the veteran his first multi-extra-base-hit effort of the campaign. Perez continues to see occasional playing time behind Shea Langeliers and currently sports a career-best .706 OPS, but his role is expected to eventually be altered to some degree once Manny Pina (wrist) is able to make his season debut.

  • Yainer Diaz C | HOU

Astros' Yainer Diaz: Near everyday player

Diaz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Saturday against the Reds.

Diaz was in the lineup for the sixth time in the Astros' last eight games, four of which have come at designated hitter and two at catcher. That uptick in playing time has occurred with Yordan Alvarez (oblique) sidelined, and Diaz has flashed significant power with two homers and a double across 24 at-bats in that span. In total, Diaz has a .218 ISO and just a 17.4 percent strikeout rate across 109 plate appearances this season.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Goes deep again

Rutschman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Cubs.

Rutschman extended his hitting streak to five games, and he's gone 8-for-22 (.364) with four extra-base hits in that span. The catcher's long ball Saturday briefly tied the game at 2-2. For the season, he's slashing an excellent .281/.390/.438 with 10 homers, 31 RBI, 35 runs scored and 10 doubles through 68 contests. With James McCann (ankle) tending to an injury, Rutschman should be firmly locked in behind the plate for at least a few days.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

    Guardians' Bo Naylor: Officially promoted

The Guardians recalled Naylor from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Naylor will not be in the starting lineup Saturday with left-hander Tommy Henry on the mound for the Diamondbacks. With the decision to designate Mike Zunino for assignment Friday, the Guardians opened the door for Naylor to take over as the primary backstop. Naylor holds a .252/.387/.486 slash line with Columbus this season alongside 12 home runs and 46 RBI through 269 plate appearances.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Orioles' James McCann: Dealing with twisted ankle

McCann is day-to-day after being diagnosed with a twisted ankle Saturday, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

McCann started behind the plate but exited after suffering the injury while sliding into first base. The injury doesn't appear to be particularly serious, but it's possible the Orioles temporarily bring up an extra catcher to provide cover for Adley Rutschman until McCann is good to go.

  • Sandy Leon C | ATL

Rangers' Sandy Leon: Accepts outright assignment

Leon cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.

Leon served as Texas' backup catcher for the first two and a half months of the season but only came to the plate 44 times. His .146/.186/.195 slash line and 45.5 percent strikeout rate make it easy to see why he failed to earn more opportunities.

  • Rays' Christian Bethancourt: On bench Saturday

Bethancourt will sit Saturday against the Padres, Kristie Ackert of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Bethancourt has the edge in starts over Francisco Mejia on the season by a 43-31 margin, but the pair have taken turns behind the plate over the last six games. An even split better suits their respective performances at the plate, as Bethancourt's .675 OPS isn't meaningfully better than Mejia's .662 mark.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

    Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Sitting Saturday

Raleigh will not start Saturday's game against the White Sox.

Raleigh has been in a slump at the plate recently, going 3-for-31 over his last nine games. Tom Murphy will catch for Logan Gilbert on Saturday.
