  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Sitting out Wednesday

Jansen is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Orioles.

Jansen was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday after recovering from a left groin strain, and he went 0-for-5 in his return to the lineup. He'll get a day of rest Wednesday with Alejandro Kirk handling catching duties and hitting fifth in Jansen's absence.

  • Yainer Diaz C | HOU

Astros' Yainer Diaz: Nabs third straight start

Diaz will serve as Houston's designated hitter and No. 6 batter in Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Diaz will pick up his third consecutive start, with two having come against right-handed pitchers. With the Astros keeping Cesar Salazar on the 26-man active roster for the time being as a third option at catcher, Diaz looks as though he'll move between designated hitter and first base while Houston aims to replace Yordan Alvarez (oblique). Diaz appears to have an edge over Corey Julks and Chas McCormick for the last spot in Houston's everyday lineup.

  • Orioles' Mark Kolozsvary: Dropped from 40-man roster

Kolozsvary was designated for assignment Wednesday by the Orioles.

Kolozsvary was optioned to Triple-A earlier Wednesday and he is now no longer a part of the team's 40-man roster. Right-handed pitcher Reed Garrett had his contract selected from Triple-A and will replace Kolozsvary on the 40-man roster Wednesday.

  • Orioles' Mark Kolozsvary: Optioned to Triple-A

Kolozsvary was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Raleigh went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer, a walk and an additional run scored in Tuesday's win over Miami.

Raleigh remains a below-average contact hitter, but his power numbers are also down with a .201 ISO compared to a .278 ISO from a season ago. The 26-year-old is slashing .211/.295/.412 with nine homers, 29 RBI, 29 runs and a 23:56 BB:K over 217 plate appearances.

  • Astros' Martin Maldonado: Goes yard in win

Maldonado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.

Maldonado's only hit of the night was a big one, after he took Chad Kuhl deep to left to begin the bottom of the seventh. It was his first hit in six games since June 3 and his first home run since May 22. Maldonado's struggles have continued at the plate again this year. He's slashing just .188/.271/.295 with four homers, nine RBI, 12 runs and a 14:53 BB:K over 170 plate appearances.
