Plawecki is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Plawecki appears to have reclaimed Boston's No. 1 catching job after starting each of the past three games while going 5-for-9 at the plate, but he'll get a breather Wednesday. Reese McGuire will catch for starting pitcher Brayan Bello while Plawecki rests.

Hedges is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Hedges returned Tuesday from a one-game absence due to a sprained ankle, starting at catcher while going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in the Guardians' 3-1 win. Though he didn't suffer any apparent setbacks with the ankle Tuesday, Hedges will get a breather nonetheless while the two teams wrap up their series with a day game after a night game. Luke Maile will draw the start behind the plate.

Zavala went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk Tuesday against the Orioles.

Zavala has started both games since Yasmani Grandal (knee) has been out. He hit ninth on each occasion but has reached base in five of his eight plate appearances. In 151 plate appearances this season, Zavala is hitting .284/.342/.403, and he should continue to get regular at-bats so long as Grandal is sidelined.

Murphy went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run in a loss to the Marlins on Tuesday.

Murphy continued his extra-base-hit barrage Tuesday, with his pair of two-baggers pushing his tally to a career-high 30 doubles and 47 extra-base knocks overall. Murphy's current .255 average is also the highest of any end-of-season figure he's ever produced in that category, and he now owns a .333/.422/.583 slash line in August along with a modest 15.7 percent strikeout rate.

Haase is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Haase had started at catcher or designated hitter in four of the past five games, but three of those starts came against left-handed pitching. The switch-hitting Tucker Barnhart is back behind the dish Wednesday and looks poised to occupy the larger side of a platoon at catcher moving forward.

Hedges (ankle) went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Padres.

The Guardians mustered just four hits as a team, and Hedges wasn't involved on offense. He ultimately missed just two games with a right ankle sprain thanks to Sunday's rainout. The catcher is slashing .171/.255/.264 with six home runs, 23 RBI, 20 runs scored and a stolen base in 77 contests this year, and he should resume a starting role behind the dish.

Bethancourt went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 11-1 win over the Angels.

Bethancourt launched a solo homer off Jesse Chavez in the bottom of the seventh inning before ripping a two-run single later in the frame. The catcher has now gone deep in three straight starts and eight times this season overall. Since the beginning of August, Bethancourt has batted .270 with three home runs, five RBI, seven runs and a stolen base over 37 at-bats in 11 games.

Hedges (ankle) is starting behind the plate and batting eighth Tuesday at San Diego.

Hedges has been dealing with an ankle sprain over the past few days, but he's back in the lineup coming off Cleveland's scheduled day off Monday. The 30-year-old has a .161/.325/.194 slash line through 12 games in August.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch admitted Tuesday that Rogers (elbow) has yet to be cleared for a rehab assignment and is running out of time to return from the 60-day injured list this season, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Rogers, who underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow Sept. 8, 2021, resumed taking batting practice shortly after the All-Star break, but the 27-year-old catcher doesn't appear to be progressing as quickly as expected in his throwing program. As a defense-first backstop, Rogers wouldn't give the Tigers much value if he were only able to serve as a designated hitter, so he likely won't be a serious candidate for a late-season call-up unless he's able to catch.

Heim is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Rockies.

Heim is in an 0-for-11 skid and is hitting .170 in 17 games this month. Meibrys Viloria will start behind the dish and hit eighth.
