Yan Gomes C | CHC
Athletics' Yan Gomes: Shipped to Oakland
Gomes was traded from the Nationals to the Athletics along with Josh Harrison for an undisclosed package Friday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Gomes was just reinstated from the injured list after missing a few weeks with an oblique injury. He is hitting .271/.323/.454 with nine home runs in 63 games this year and will be a high-end backup to primary catcher Sean Murphy. Gomes is a free agent after this season.

Salvador Perez C | KC
Royals' Salvador Perez: Goes yard once again
Perez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the White Sox.
The star catcher took Carlos Rodon deep in the first inning and his two-run blast set the tone for the Royals' offense the rest of the way. This was Perez's 25th homer on the season, and he leads all catchers in baseball in that category after going yard for the fourth time over his last six games. The veteran is also hitting .276 with a .825 OPS, six homers and 17 RBI on the month.

Reese McGuire C | CHW
Blue Jays' Reese McGuire: Pounds out three doubles
McGuire went 3-for-5 with a trio of doubles and an RBI in Thursday's win over the Red Sox.
Hitting out of the No. 9 hole in the Toronto lineup, McGuire doubled off three different Boston pitchers and drove in a run with his ground-rule two-bagger in the sixth inning. With Danny Jansen (hamstring) on the shelf for the second time this season, McGuire is splitting playing time behind the plate with rookie Alejandro Kirk and has responded by hitting .284 in 143 plate appearances on the year.

Blue Jays' Reese McGuire: Catching in series finale
McGuire will start at catcher and bat ninth Thursday against the Red Sox.
McGuire and Alejandro Kirk have been working in a timeshare at catcher since the latter was called up from Triple-A Buffalo on July 23 to replace the injured Danny Jansen (hamstring). With a .175/.195/.200 slash line in July, McGuire hasn't performed well enough to justify a larger portion of the catching load.

Alejandro Kirk C | TOR
Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Stuck on bench Thursday
Kirk is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox.
Kirk will take a seat for the series finale, allowing Reese McGuire to pick up a start behind the plate. The two backstops have been working in a timeshare since Kirk was called up from Triple-A Buffalo, and that arrangement will likely remain in place until one of the two catchers performs dramatically better than the other.

Gary Sanchez C | MIL
Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Not in Thursday's lineup
Sanchez will sit Thursday against the Rays.
Sanchez owns an .871 OPS in nine games since the All-Star break. Kyle Higashioka will catch Gerrit Cole in his absence.

Max Stassi C | SF
Angels' Max Stassi: Homers in win
Stassi went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk in Wednesday's 8-7 win over the Rockies.
Stassi led off the fifth with a solo blast to center to put the Angels up 7-3. It was his second home run over his last three games and his fourth overall this month. The 30-year-old is enjoying a nice July, slashing .347/.418/.673 with four homers, nine RBI, eight runs scored and 4:14 BB:K over 14 games. Stassi should continue to see the bulk of the work behind the plate for the Angels, with Kurt Suzuki starting occasionally as the backup catcher.

Jose Trevino C | CIN
Rangers' Jose Trevino: Starts Wednesday
Trevino went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to Arizona.
Trevino, who stole his first base as a major leaguer, made just his second start in five games since coming back from a forearm injury. The one-time starting catcher appears to have fallen behind Jonah Heim on the depth chart.

Salvador Perez C | KC
Royals' Salvador Perez: Comes through with clutch homer
Perez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the White Sox.
The All-Star catcher doubled leading off the seventh inning and subsequently came around to score the Royals' first run. He then came up to the plate against Chicago closer Liam Hendriks with Kansas City down by a run in the ninth frame and came through with a game-tying solo homer to left field. The long ball was Perez's 24th of the season, tops among all catchers and tied for ninth overall leaguewide. With a .278/.307/.508 slash line and 63 RBI in addition to the long balls, Perez has little competition for the title of 2021's top fantasy catcher.

Ryan Jeffers C | MIN
Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Smacks grand slam
Jeffers went 2-for-4 with two home runs, six RBI and two walks Wednesday against Detroit.
Jeffers began his standout effort by clubbing a grand slam in the fourth inning. He followed that up with a two-run shot four frames later, which brought his home run total on the season to eight. Jeffers is mainly limited to backup catcher duties behind Mitch Garver, though he has seen increased playing time of late due to Garver's placement on paternity leave and a subsequent hand injury that cost him a chance to start Wednesday. For the season, Jeffers has a .205/.293/.418 line across 164 plate appearances.
