Connor Wong C | BOS
Red Sox's Connor Wong: Called up as 27th man
Wong was called up by the Red Sox to serve as the 27th man in Wednesday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Wong spent several weeks in the majors in late June and early July, and he appeared in four games. The 25-year-old went 3-for-11 with a double, two runs and seven strikeouts during that time. He isn't starting Wednesday's matinee against Toronto but should be available off the bench.

Mitch Garver DH | SEA
Twins' Mitch Garver: Takes seat due to hand injury
Garver (hand) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.
Garver slugged a grand slam in Tuesday's 6-5 loss in 11 innings, but he was removed from the game in the bottom of the 10th when he was struck in his right hand by a pitch. He was diagnosed with a bruise after X-rays cleared him of structural damage, but he's apparently still experiencing too much pain to catch or serve as a designated hitter in the day game after a night game. Ryan Jeffers is behind the dish for Minnesota in the series finale.

Sean Murphy C | ATL
Athletics' Sean Murphy: Smashes two extra-base hits
Murphy went 2-for-4 with a double, solo home run and an additional RBI in a 7-4 loss to the Padres on Tuesday.
Murphy was responsible for Oakland's final two runs of the game, lacing an RBI double in the third and solo home run off reliever Drew Pomeranz in the eighth. The homer was his first since the All-Star break and 13th on the season, bringing him to a tie with Buster Posey for eighth most among backstops.

Mitch Garver DH | SEA
Twins' Mitch Garver: X-rays negative after HBP
Garver was diagnosed with a bruised right hand after undergoing X-rays on Tuesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Garver went 1-for-4 with a grand slam during the opening frame before being hit by a pitch in the 10th inning and exiting the contest. It appears he's avoided a serious injury, but he could be held out Wednesday in advance of Thursday's scheduled off day to provide two straight days to recover.

Max Stassi C | SF
Angels' Max Stassi: Day off Tuesday
Stassi is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Rockies, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Stassi started the past three games and will receive a maintenance day Tuesday. Kurt Suzuki will work behind the plate in his place.

Kyle Higashioka C | TEX
Yankees' Kyle Higashioka: Activated Tuesday
Higashioka (illness) was activated from the COVID-19 injured list prior to Tuesday's game against the Rays, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Higashioka is joined by Aaron Judge in being activated from the COVID-19 IL on Tuesday. Both players had positive tests confirmed July 16, but both will return to the active roster shortly after ending their quarantine periods. Higashioka figures to resume serving as the backup catcher behind Gary Sanchez going forward.

Jose Trevino C | CIN
Rangers' Jose Trevino: Remains on bench
Trevino will sit Tuesday against Arizona.
Trevino has started just once in four games since returning from a bruised forearm Friday. It's unclear whether he's still being eased back into action or he's fallen behind Jonah Heim (who starts Tuesday) on the depth chart.

Martin Maldonado C | SD
Astros' Martin Maldonado: Homers in two-hit night
Maldonado went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Monday's 11-8 loss to the Mariners.
Houston values Maldonado primarily for his ability to control the run game and shepherd the pitching staff, but he provided a rare impact at the plate in the series opener. Though Maldonado's seventh home run of the season helped stake Houston to a 7-0 lead after three and a half innings, the Seattle bats suddenly erupted midway through the contest and allowed the Mariners to complete a come-from-behind victory.

Cal Raleigh C | SEA
Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Plates three in comeback win
Raleigh went 1-for-4 with a double and three RBI in Monday's 11-8 win over the Astros.
The rookie backstop struck out three times on the night, but he made his lone hit count, as he cleared the bases with a two-bagger in the fourth inning to put the Mariners on the board. Raleigh is now slashing .148/.207/.333 with a 37.9 percent strikeout rate through the first eight games of his big-league career, but the Mariners will likely give him more opportunities to right the ship after his dominating performance in Triple-A (.324/.377/.608 with a 12.6 percent strikeout rate) earlier this season.

Eric Haase C | SF
Tigers' Eric Haase: Slugs 16th homer
Haase went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Twins.
The backstop has a seven-game hitting streak going, although he doesn't have a multi-hit performance during that stretch. Haase continues to put a charge in the ball -- seven of his 16 homers on the year have come in July, including three in his last five starts.
