  • Rays' Travis d'Arnaud: Produces in return to lineup

D'Arnaud went 1-for-3 with an RBI double and a walk in a win over the Blue Jays on Sunday.

D'Arnaud had been out of the starting nine the prior two games due to neck and shoulder tightness, but he corroborated his return to health with a solid showing Sunday. The veteran has only four hits over his first 20 at-bats of September, yet he's surprisingly parlayed that tally into seven RBI, including one in each of his last three games.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Rangers' Jose Trevino: Collects three hits Sunday

Trevino went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 10-4 win over Baltimore.

Trevino returned to the lineup after a day off Saturday. He had appeared in eight straight games before the off day. The 26-year-old has moved into the role as the team's primary catcher and is expected to maintain that job heading into 2020. Trevino is batting .269/.286/.418 over 26 games in the majors in 2019.

  • Astros' Martin Maldonado: Takes part in rout

Maldonado went 2-for-5 with a walk, a double, an RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's 21-1 win over the Mariners.

Maldonado is more important to the Astros for his defensive skills, but he joined the team's bludgeoning of Mariners pitching. The multiple-hit effort was his first since joining the Astros at the trade deadline. He's batting just .203 over 18 games in Houston.

  • Max Stassi C | SF

Angels' Max Stassi: Dealing with side issue

Stassi is dealing with a side issue and will be evaluated Monday, the Associated Press reports.

Stassi has sat out the last five games while nursing the unspecified side issue. The Angels return home Monday, at which point the 28-year-old will be further examined. Stassi has only three hits in 42 at-bats since being acquired from Houston at the trade deadline.

  • Red Sox's Christian Vazquez: Receives breather Sunday

Vazquez is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Vazquez will head to the bench after starting the last 19 games -- three of which came at first base -- and posting a .577 OPS in that stretch. Sandy Leon will take over behind the plate and bat eighth Sunday for the Red Sox.

  • Jake Rogers C | DET

Tigers' Jake Rogers: Not starting Sunday

Rogers is not in the lineup for Sunday's game at Oakland.

Rogers struck out in all four at-bats Saturday and will return to the bench for the series finale. Grayson Greiner will start behind the plate for the Tigers.

  • Yankees' Kyle Higashioka: Returns from Triple-A

Higashioka was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Higashioka will join the Yankees as the team's third catcher after playing through the playoffs with the RailRiders. The 29-year-old has an .840 OPS in 40 plate appearances while filling in for the Yankees this season.

  • Indians' Roberto Perez: Day off Sunday

Perez is not in the lineup Sunday against the Twins.

Perez has gone 7-for-19 in his last five games. He'll sit in favor of Kevin Plawecki in Sunday's contest.

  • Zack Collins C | CLE

White Sox's Zack Collins: Sitting Sunday

Collins is not in the lineup Sunday against the Angels.

Collins started four of the last five games, going 2-for-12 with four walks. James McCann will catch Sunday, with Matt Skole serving as the designated hitter.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

Mariners' Omar Narvaez: On base twice in return

Narvaez went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk in a loss to the Astros on Saturday.

The game marked Narvaez's first start since last Sunday, as he'd been besieged by back spasms throughout the week. Narvaez was able to serve as the designated hitter Saturday, and he could soon be back behind the dish if he remains free of setbacks.
