  • Cubs' Willson Contreras: Collects three hits, home run Wednesday

Contreras went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Wednesday's win over the Pirates.

Contreras posted a strong all-around game, capped off with a two-run home run in the eighth inning. On the season, the 26-year-old catcher is now batting .283 with an .830 OPS and nine home runs.

  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Heads to minor-league DL

Campusano was placed on the 7-day disabled list with a concussion Wednesday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Campusano was diagnosed with a "mild concussion" after taking a foul ball off his mask. He'll be eligible to return in a week if he manages to clear concussion protocol.

Rockies' Tom Murphy: Day off Wednesday

Murphy is not in the lineup against the Cardinals on Wednesday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Murphy will receive a breather following four straight starts, during which he's gone just 2-for-17 with three RBI and seven strikeouts. In his place, Chris Iannetta will handle the catching duties and bat eighth.

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: On bench Wednesday

Barnhart is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Detroit.

Barnhart will head to the bench after going 0-for-3 during Tuesday's contest. In his absence, Curt Casali will handle the catching duties and bat eighth. Look for Barnhart to rejoin the starting nine for Thursday's series opener in Washington.

  • Marlins' J.T. Realmuto: Slugs 14th homer

Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the Braves.

He capped off an impressive July with his 14th homer of the year. Realmuto finished the month with a .314/.347/.512 slash line, four home runs, 14 runs and 18 RBI in 21 games, and the catcher remains the one consistent bright spot in an otherwise drab Marlins lineup.

  • Dodgers' Yasmani Grandal: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Grandal is out of the lineup against Milwaukee on Tuesday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Grandal will retreat to the bench after starting the past two games behind the plate. In his place, Austin Barnes will catch and bat eighth.

  • Mets' Devin Mesoraco: Out of lineup Tuesday

Mesoraco is not starting Tuesday against the Nationals.

Mesoraco and Kevin Plawecki have alternated starts for the past eight games, with neither appearing to be anything close to a true starter. Plawecki gets the start Tuesday.

  • Padres' Austin Hedges: Retreats to bench

Hedges is out of the lineup Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

A.J. Ellis will fill in for Hedges behind the plate, catching for Padres southpaw Joey Lucchesi. Hedges has started seven of the Padres' nine games since the All-Star break, going 5-for-22 with a pair of home runs.

  • Tom Murphy C | SF

Rockies' Tom Murphy: Second straight start

Murphy will start at catcher and hit seventh Sunday against the Athletics, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Murphy will pick up his second start in a row and third in four games after tallying an extra-base hit in both of his previous two appearances. Though Murphy possesses the highest fantasy ceiling of the Rockies' three backstops, his lack of polish behind the plate may prevent him from displacing Chris Iannetta as the team's top option on the depth chart.

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Out of Sunday's lineup

Barnhart is out of the lineup Sunday against the Phillies, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Barnhart has caught the last four games for Cincinnati, collecting exactly one base hit in each outing to raise his season batting average up to .252. He'll head to the bench for the series finale, however, giving way to Curt Casali behind the plate.
