Mesoraco (elbow) is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Marlins but is available off the bench, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Mesoraco exited Monday's game after getting hit in the elbow by a backswing. Fortunately, X-rays confirmed the backstop is simply dealing with a bruise and shouldn't miss much time as a result. Tomas Nido will start behind the dish in his stead Tuesday.

Mesoraco underwent X-rays on his left elbow following the conclusion of Monday night's game against the Marlins, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record report.

Mesoraco appeared to suffer a bruise after a backswing hit his left elbow during Monday's matchup. He received X-rays to ensure no further damage occurred, and the results came back negative, although he does have swelling in his elbow. Mesoraco will be listed as day-to-day moving forward.

Hedges (elbow) is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso on Monday.

Hedges has been sidelined for all of May with right elbow tendinitis. After appearing in games at extended spring training for the past week, the backstop has been cleared to embark on a rehab stint, marking the last step in his recovery before he rejoins the Padres. It's unclear how many minor-league games Hedges will need to appear in before his activation. Raffy Lopez and A.J. Ellis will continue to share catching duties until Hedges is healthy.

Grandal went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday against the Nationals.

Grandal blasted his eighth home run of the season in the second inning, this one coming off right-hander Stephen Strasburg. He has cooled down since a fast start to the season in April but has three home runs in his past six games. Overall, he has a .511 slugging percentage in 137 at-bats this season, an impressive mark relative to most other catchers.

Mesoraco went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

Mesoraco continued to make quite the impression on his new club, as he has now hit three home runs in his first six games as a Met. Saturday's was a game-tying two run-run shot off Archie Bradley. This hot stretch will likely be the best we see of Mesoraco this season, but he has taken advantage of the opportunity to start on a regular basis.

Barnhart is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Barnhart started and was 1-for-5 with a strikeout in the Game 1 victory, but it's not surprising to see him headed to the bench after the 11-inning game. Tony Cruz will take over catching duties and bat eighth for Cincinnati.

Realmuto is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Braves, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Realmuto was out of the lineup Thursday as well, but the Marlins don't have an off day until next Thursday. Bryan Holaday will take over behind the plate and bat eighth for Miami.

The Mets recalled Nido from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.

Nido was sent to Las Vegas after the Mets' acquisition of Devin Mesoraco earlier in May, but returns to the team with Jose Lobaton now designated for assignment. Nido split catching duties with Lobaton in his previous major-league stint and Mesoraco seems likely to serve as primary catcher this time around, although Nido will still likely have some opportunities.

Contreras is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against Cincinnati.

Contreras went 3-for-6 with one RBI and one run scored during Friday's series opener and will take a seat in favor of Victor Caratini, who will catch Kyle Hendricks and bat sixth in the matinee. Expect to see Contreras back behind the plate for Game 2.
