  • Cubs' Willson Contreras: Stays in Friday's game

Contreras stayed in Friday's game after being involved in a collision along the third-base line, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.

Contreras went down after the scary collision with Starlin Castro and it was reported that he left the game, but apparently he's going to tough it out.

  • Cubs' Willson Contreras: Leaves game following collision

Contreras left Friday's game in the sixth inning following a collision near home plate, Brendan Kuty of NJ.com reports.

Contreras fielded a throw up the third-base line from Jason Heyward and collided with the Yankees' Starlin Castro, but he held onto the ball for the out. The 24-year-old was also able to walk off the field under his own power. He should be considered day-to-day until there's information to suggest otherwise.

  • Cubs' Willson Contreras: Returns to lineup Friday

Contreras is back in the lineup for the Cubs on Friday against the Yankees, batting seventh and catching.

The youngster was one of four Cubbies to whom Joe Maddon gave a day off in their Thursday matinee. Contreras will duel with Michael Pineda on Friday afternoon.

  • Mets' Travis d'Arnaud: Set to visit doctor

D'Arnaud will have his wrist examined by a doctor Thursday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

D'Arnaud is apparently still experiencing soreness after aggravating a wrist injury during Tuesday's contest. More should be known about his status after the examination, while the possibility of a trip to the DL looms overhead.

  • Mets' Travis d'Arnaud: Out again Thursday

D'Arnaud (wrist) is not in the lineup Thursday against the Braves.

D'Arnaud will sit for the second straight game after aggravating a wrist injury during Tuesday's contest. Rene Rivera will once again serve as backstop in his stead. D'Arnaud should be considered day-to-day until the Mets update his status, but a trip to the DL could be a possibility if he isn't back for the weekend series against the Marlins.

  • Cubs' Willson Contreras: Sitting again Thursday

Contreras is not in the Cubs' Thursday lineup.

Though he came up with a big pinch-hit double Wednesday, Contreras receives his second straight day out of the starting lineup, with Miguel Montero taking his place to catch John Lackey. Contreras should be back in action Friday.

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Hitting eighth Thursday

Barnhart is behind the plate and batting eighth for the Reds on Thursday.

He's giving Devin Mesoraco a breather. Barnhart has ceded the majority playing-time role to Mesoraco as the Reds continue working the latter back into the fray following his injury absence.

  • Reds' Devin Mesoraco: Sitting out Thursday

Mesoraco is not in the Reds' lineup Thursday.

The backstop, who hit his first home run since 2014 on Wednesday, will get another day of rest as Cincinnati monitors his workload in the early stages of his return from the disabled list. The Reds still want to make Mesoraco their starter eventually, but the path there will be gradual. Tucker Barnhart replaces him in the lineup, batting eighth.

  • Marlins' J.T. Realmuto: Drives home four out of leadoff spot

Realmuto went 2-for-5 with a triple, a walk, four RBI and two runs in Wednesday's win over the Rays.

He did all that while hitting leadoff, a little change of pace that busted Realmuto out of an 0-for-10 stretch over his last three games. The 26-year-old has been providing a strong batting average, but this game was an exception in terms of counting stats, as he came in with just nine RBI and nine runs over 22 contests.

  • Reds' Devin Mesoraco: Hits first homer since 2014

Mesoraco went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and two runs against the Pirates on Wednesday.

The homer was the oft-injured backstop's first since Sept. 23, 2014 -- and that one was his 25th of that season. Mesoraco's now 3-for-12 with a couple walks since returning from the DL, and this should serve as a reminder of the top-end fantasy potential he once possessed -- and may still. His playing time may be spotty as he gets eased back in, especially early on, but if Mesoraco can stay healthy and work his way into true No. 1 duty, he could return significant fantasy value.
