  • Reds CF Billy Hamilton back in the lineup, Devin Mesoraco out

Reds center fielder Billy Hamilton is back in the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs after sitting out Monday with a finger injury, the team announced. Hamilton picked up a sore index finger after sliding into second base in Sunday's game and manager Bryan Price gave him the day off.

Catcher Devin Mesoraco will miss his third straight game while nursing a hip injury, which Price hopes to be day to day. He is still in Cincinnati to rehab his sore hip and is not being considered for the disabled list as of yet, according to MLB.com.

The Reds are currently the underdogs (+145) against the Cubs Tuesday.

Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco is considered "day-to-day" with his left hip injury after the team received results from his MRI, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Reds manager Bryan Price said Mesoraco will be back behind the plate "soon." He is not in Monday's lineup.

Mesoraco was experiencing discomfort in his left hip, which caused him to sit out on Sunday until entering the game in the eighth inning. This season so far, Mesoraco is 2 for 21 with one stolen base and no extra-base hits.

  • Dodgers' Juan Uribe, Justin Turner remain out of lineup Monday

The Dodgers are also keeping shortstop Jimmy Rollins, catcher Yasmani Grandal and left fielder Carl Crawford out of the starting lineup Monday. Mesoraco wasn't in the starting lineup Sunday but was able to enter the game in the eighth and catch the final four innings of the 11-inning loss. However, he remained behind in Cincinnati to undergo testing on the hip. The catcher is just 2 for 21 with one stolen base and no extra-base hits in six games.

The Marlins have recalled catching prospect J.T. Realmuto and pitcher Carter Capps from Triple-A New Orleans while selecting the contract of infielder Reid Brignac, the team announced Monday.

Realmuto will take over backup-catcher duties from Jeff Mathis, who suffered a fractured finger Sunday. Realmuto got his first taste of major-league action last season, hitting .241/.267/.345 with nine RBI in 29 at-bats. He's 5 for 13 with a stolen base in three games with Triple-A New Orleans.

Capps is set to join the Marlins pitching staff with Henderson Alvarez heading to the disabled list. Capps has made two appearances with New Orleans this season, giving up two earned runs in one inning of work.

Brignac will serve as a utility infielder after Don Kelly suffered a fractured finger Sunday. Brignac hit .222/.300/.346 in 81 at-bats with the Phillies last season.

  • Mets drop Juan Lagares in batting order

Mets manager Terry Collins is dropping center fielder Juan Lagares one spot in the batting order.

Lagares was a candidate for the leadoff spot in spring training, but he opened the season in the six hole in the order. After opening the season with a .160 average and six strikeouts in 25 at bats, Lagares will bat seventh on Monday.

"If he continues to swing the bat like he can, he'll be in the leadoff spot," Collins said, per ESPN. "Right now, he's struggling a little bit. So we kind of like where he's at. We've got all the confidence in the world. When that confidence fades, we'll find somebody else. But, right now, this guy is one of the real, real good players and an up-and-coming star in this game."

Catcher Travis d'Arnaud, who is hitting .333 with five RBI, moves up from the seventh spot.

The Marlins are likely to call up catcher J.T. Realmuto and infielder Reid Brignac from Triple-A New Orleans to the 25-man roster, according to a report from the Miami Herald

  • Brewers' Lucroy, Gennett not in starting lineup Sunday

Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy and second baseman Scooter Gennett are not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Lucroy is getting a break from starting Sunday after opening the season just 1 for 20, and Martin Maldonado will take his spot behind the plate. Manager Ron Roenicke said he isn't worried about Lucroy's slow start, the Journal Sentinel reports.

"Luc has had some good at-bats," Roenicke said Sunday. "He stayed on a breaking ball and hit a bullet to second yesterday. The day before he lined out to short. So he’s had some good at-bats. The first couple days he was lost, then he started swinging the bat again. I like what he’s doing."

With Lucroy out of the lineup, Jean Segura will move to the No. 2 slot, and the manager indicated that Segura's early-season performance made his choice for the spot easy.

"The way he’s been swinging it, yeah," Roenicke said. "Other than that, I don’t what I would have done. Sometimes you slip in a Khris Davis or somebody else. But Seggy, the way he’s swinging, he’s perfect."

Gennett is out of the lineup for the second straight game after getting ejected Friday for slamming his bat to the ground on a called strike three when the team had no backup infielders on the bench. Hector Gomez will get a second straight start at second base after going 2 for 3 Saturday.

The Brewers are favorites (-120) against the Pirates Sunday.
