Travis d'Arnaud will be promoted Saturday
Mets catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud will join the team Friday and make his major-league debut Saturday against the Padres, according to the New York Post.
d'Arnaud will fill in for John Buck, who is on paternity leave. He batted .304 with two homers and 12 RBI at Triple-A Las Vegas. He hit .286 with three home runs and 20 RBI in 105 at-bats in the minors. -

Mets catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud "will be active" Friday night against the Padres, manager Terry Collins told ESPN.
With John Buck on a paternity leave, d'Arnaud is expected to be called up in time for Friday's game. He batted .304 with two homers and 12 RBI at Triple-A Las Vegas. He hit .286 with three home runs and 20 RBI in 105 at-bats in the minors. -

Yasmani Grandal undergoes knee surgery
Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal underwent reconstructive surgery on his right knee Tuesday, MLB.com reports. Grandal is expected to need nine to 12 months of recovery time after the operation to repair his ACL.

Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco is not in the team's starting lineup Wednesday against the Athletics.
Mesoraco will be replaced by Corky Miller, who will hit eighth. With Ryan Hanigan out with a wrist injury, Mesoraco has received the full-time workload behind the plate. He's hitting .250/.308/.404 in 228 at-bats.

Yasmani Grandal won't face further discipline
Major League Baseball announced Monday Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal will not receive any additional discipline after he already served a 50-game suspension as a result of his violation of the joint drug prevention and treatment program stemming from his connection to the Biogensis investigation. Grandal is already out for the rest of the season because of knee surgery.

Report: Biogensis discipline handed down
FOX Sports reports among the players accepting 50-game suspensions for their connection to the Biogenesis investigation are Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz, Tigers shortstop Jhonny Peralta, Phillies reliever Antonio Bastardo, Mets infielder Jordany Valdespin , Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera, Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli, Mariners catcher Jesus Montero, Mets outfielder Cesar Puello, Astros reliever Sergio Escalona, Padres reliever Fautino De Los Santos, Yankees outfielder Fernando Martinez and free-agent pitcher Jordan Norberto.
The report also states Athletics starting pitcher Bartolo Colon, Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal and Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera will be dealt no additional discipline. Also, no violations were found against Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez and Orioles infielder Danny Valencia.

Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco played a big part in his team's 8-3 win over the Cardinals Saturday, going 2 for 4 with two home runs and three RBI. It was Mesoraco's first multi-homer game of the season.
Mesoraco has hit .257/.316/.414 with eight home runs and 32 RBI in 222 at-bats.

Diamondbacks bring up Tuffy Gosewisch
The Diamondbacks selected the contract of catcher Tuffy Gosewisch from Triple-A Reno Thursday after placing starting catcher Miguel Montero on the disabled list with a back injury. Gosewisch hit .285 with six home runs and 30 RBI in 66 games for Reno.

Travis d'Arnaud could be seen soon
With John Buck possibly set to leave the team for a few days with his wife due to give birth Thursday, Mets manager Terry Collins could call on top catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud to join the team for a series. According to ESPN, Collins said he would consider d'Arnaud as an option to join the team for a few days, though he made it clear even if he does get the call it would just be until Buck is able to return.
d'Arnaud has been playing in Gulf Coast League games while rehabbing from a broken foot, and is expected to resume play at Double-A Binghamton Wednesda.
