  • Joey Bart C | PIT

Pirates' Joey Bart: Sitting for nightcap

Bart isn't in the Pirates' lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader versus Washington.

Bart went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored during a loss in Game 1, and he'll now take a seat to conclude Saturday's festivities. Yasmani Grandal will fill in behind the plate and bat seventh.

  • Padres' Kyle Higashioka: On bench Saturday

Higashioka is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against San Francisco.

Higashioka will take a seat Saturday against Logan Webb and the Giants. In his place, Luis Campusano will catch and bat seventh.

  • Ivan Herrera C | STL

    Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Resting Saturday

Herrera isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for Saturday's game against the Mariners, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Herrera has gone 5-for-15 with three RBI across his last five games, but he'll sit down for a second consecutive contest Saturday while Pedro Pages catches for Kyle Gibson and bats seventh.

  • Phillies' Aramis Garcia: Joining big-league club

The Phillies selected Garcia's contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday.

J.T. Realmuto suffered a knee injury Friday against the Marlins and Garcia will come up to provide depth behind the plate. If Realmuto is forced to miss time, Garcia would be in line to share catching duties with Garrett Stubbs. That said, Garcia hasn't appeared in an MLB game since 2022 and is slashing .161/.215/.282 with Lehigh Valley this season.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Sitting down Saturday

Realmuto (knee) isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Marlins.

Realmuto was taken out of Friday's contest after he fouled a ball off his left knee in the second inning. The team hasn't indicated that the 33-year-old will need to spend time on the injured list, though the issue is apparently severe enough to warrant a day off Saturday. Garrett Stubbs will catch for starting pitcher Aaron Nola.

  • Jose Herrera C | TEX

Diamondbacks' Jose Herrera: In Saturday's lineup

Herrera (head) will start at catcher and bat ninth Saturday versus Houston.

Herrera had to make an early exit from Friday's contest after getting hit in the head by Kyle Tucker's backswing, but the 27-year-old backstop appears to be fine entering Saturday's game. Since Aug. 20, he's gone 4-for-22 with four RBI and two runs scored.

  • Diamondbacks' Adrian Del Castillo: Resting against lefty

Del Castillo isn't in Arizona's lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros.

With Yusei Kikuchi slated to start for Houston, the lefty-hitting Del Castillo will retreat to the bench Saturday. Jose Herrera (head) will fill in behind the dish and bat ninth.

  • Miguel Amaya C | CHC

    Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Resting Saturday

Amaya isn't in the Cubs' lineup Saturday against the Yankees.

Amaya will get a day to regroup after going 0-for-9 across his last three games. Christian Bethancourt will take over behind the dish and bat ninth.

  • Jose Herrera C | TEX

Diamondbacks' Jose Herrera: Passes tests after game

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said following Friday night's game that Herrera (head) "got through his testing just fine," MLB.com reports.

Herrera was accidentally hit on the top of his helmet by Kyle Tucker's backswing and removed from Friday's game. The manager added that Herrera is penciled into Saturday's lineup. According to Lovullo, the catcher lobbied to remain in the game, and that his removal was strictly for precautionary reasons.

Diamondbacks' Jose Herrera: Exits early Friday

Herrera exited Friday's game against Houston after being hit on the top of his mask by a backswing, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Kyle Tucker accidentally connected with Herrera's mask in the fifth inning. The catcher exited the game after being assessed by trainers on the field and was replaced by Adrian Del Castillo.
