  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Sitting Saturday

Bailey isn't in the Giants' lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Bailey will catch a breather Saturday after going 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored during Friday's win. Tom Murphy will start behind the plate instead and bat eighth.

  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Not starting Saturday

Campusano isn't in the Padres' lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants.

Campusano is 6-for-18 with two RBI through the Padres' first four games of the year, and he'll get his first day off of the season Saturday. Kyle Higashioka will get the nod behind the plate and bat ninth.

  • Nick Fortes C | TB

    Marlins' Nick Fortes: Sitting Saturday

Fortes isn't in the Marlins' lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Fortes will sit out his second straight game after going 0-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch Thursday. Christian Bethancourt will again get the starting nod behind the dish and bat ninth.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Out of lineup Saturday

Stephenson isn't in the Reds' lineup Saturday against the Nationals.

Stephenson went 1-for-4 with an RBI to begin the season Thursday, and he'll take a seat Saturday to give Luke Maile his first start of the year. The 27-year-old Stephenson still projects to start behind the dish most days for the Reds in 2024.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

Brewers' Gary Sanchez: Not starting Saturday

Sanchez isn't in the Brewers' lineup Saturday against the Mets.

Sanchez started as the Brewers' DH on Friday, but he will take a seat after going 0-for-2 in the first game of the year. Rhys Hoskins will serve as the designated hitter instead, allowing Jake Bauers to pick up a start at first base against right-hander Luis Severino.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Braves' Sean Murphy: Placed on injured list

Atlanta placed Murphy on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a strained left oblique, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Murphy suffered the injury following a swing during Friday's win over the Phillies and had to be removed from the game. He'll now sit down for at least the next 10 days while Travis d'Arnaud takes over as Atlanta's starting catcher. Chadwick Tromp was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move and will serve as d'Arnaud's backup while Murphy is out.

  • Elias Diaz C | KC

Rockies' Elias Diaz: First homer of 2024

Diaz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Friday against the Diamondbacks.

He made his lone hit of the game count when he took Merrill Kelly deep in the second inning to tally his first homer of the season. Diaz has hit sixth in each of Colorado's first two games and has two hits across seven plate appearances. The Rockies are reportedly looking to rest the 33-year-old more often in 2024 and have Jacob Stallings on the roster as a reliable defender, so Diaz should be on the bench for one of the series' final two games this weekend.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Braves' Sean Murphy: Headed to IL

Murphy is headed to the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Murphy injured his oblique on a swing during Friday's game against Philadelphia. Travis d'Arnaud will take over duties as Atlanta's primary catcher while Murphy is out, and the team will likely promote Chadwick Tromp from Triple-A Gwinnett to act as the backup.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Braves' Sean Murphy: Battling oblique tightness

Murphy was removed from Friday's game against the Phillies due to left oblique tightness.

The 28-year-old grabbed at his left side after swinging at a pitch during the seventh inning Friday, and the fears of it being an oblique issue have been confirmed. It's an ominous development in the season opener for Murphy, who went 0-for-3 with a strikeout prior to his exit. Travis d'Arnaud is set to serve as Atlanta's primary backstop should Murphy require a trip to the injured list.

Braves' Sean Murphy: Exits with apparent oblique injury

Murphy was removed from Friday's game against the Phillies with an apparent left oblique injury, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Murphy swung at a Matt Strahm pitch in the seventh inning before immediately grabbing at his left side. He then walked off the field after a brief conversation with the trainer. Atlanta will have more clarity on Murphy's condition after the game, but it certainly looked like an injury that could result in a trip to the injured list. If that happens, Travis d'Arnaud would be in line for regular catching duties.
